Default Obiwopkenobi62's Home theater

Hi all,
Well I just ordered my new TV(Mitsubishi WD-65638 65-Inch 1080p 3D-Ready DLP HDTV). I currently have a Mits 73" that I'm selling to a buddy of mine. I help another buddy set up his new Mits 75" a couple of weeks ago(3D HDTV). That's when I decided to get a new one. Love the picture on these TV's. Sold mine for 1,000.00 and the new one cost me 1,099.00. I decided to go a little smaller, but not bad spending 99.00 to get a new one that is 3D. Going to order the 3D starter kit in a few weeks. I'll post new pics after I get it set up.
Anyone else get a new Mits lately?
Later.

Thanks a bunch. If you're referring to the film reel tables, my Dad made those from scratch. The reels were designed and built by him out of wood and painted to look like metal. 15" diameter and I purchased 16" diameter glass for them.
I will post some new pics after I get the new TV set up.

Sounds like you are going to have one hec of a 3D experience soon obi. That should be a pretty sweet set-up, and I'm sure you will love it once it is all set up. Congrats!

Well, I hooked all my new equipment today and all I can say is the Mits 3D is as good as the Panasonic that I looked at. It looked as good as the 3D I've seen in the theater. There was no ghosting at all. Perfect picture. As far as other brands I've seen, I would have to say it's way better than the Sony and the Samsung and as good as Panasonic. For anyone that doesn't like DLP's, I would say don't knock it until you've seen it in action. I put in my copy of Disney's A Christmas Carol and only watched a few minutes, but it was phenomenal. Now I want to run out and buy some more 3D Blu rays.
Awesome stuff.
P.S. I ran everything with the PS3 because my Sony 3D BD player I got from Amazon was broken when I took it out of the box. There was actually something loose inside that was banging around when I tilted it. I contacted Amazon and they are sending out a new one in the next couple of days. I really want to run the 3D with the standalone so I can use the lossless audio. Right now I have the Optical audio out of the PS3. It'll have to suffice till the new one arrives.
I highly recommend the Mistsubishi 3D HDTV for anyone that wants 3D and also wants to spend a lot less.

Congrats! I assume a simple software upgrade on the PS3 is all that was required. How many glasses did you get? Was it part of the kit?

Yeah the PS3 was ready to go with the last firmware upgrade. The Mitsubishi Starter kit I wound up getting from Overstock.com(320.00) because it was cheaper than Amazon(370.00). The kit came with the 3D emitter(talks to the glasses), the 3D adapter, 1.4 HDMI cable, 2 pairs of glasses with soft storage bags and microfiber cleaning cloths and a demo disc. My buddy also has a Mits 3D TV so we can borrow each others glasses when we have company rather than having to buy more pairs.
Basically th way this hooks up is HDMI out on PS3 to HDMI in on adapter, then HDMI out of adapter to HDMI in on TV, emitter plugs into emitter input on TV and you're good to go. There are some setting in the PS3 menu as well as the TV but it's all pretty straight forward and I was watching the demo disc within 10 minutes from when I started hooking everything up.
The 3D is beautiful. As good as what I've seen in the theater. Can't wait to get Avatar in 3D. That's gonna be sweet. If you have any more question just shoot me a PM and I'll get back to you...

Update: When I get my new Sony 3D BD player, the hookup will be slightly different. Since I now have a 3D Onkyo receiver. Everything will be hooked up to the HDMI inputs(4 of them) with 1.4 HDMI cables, Then a 1.4 from Rcvr HDMI out into the adapter, then out of adapter to the TV. The you can go between sources(3D or non 3D) and the adapter will switch automatically based on what you are watching. If you don't have a 3D capable Rcvr you have to go directly into the TV and run separate audio through the Rcvr.

So last night we watched the 3D Imax Under the sea Blu ray and it was incredible. Run time is about 40 minutes and the 3D quality was fantastic. As I mentioned before, the Mits 3D is as good as the Panasonic.

Well finally got everything hooked up. Everythings running great. Had a bunch of people over for Thanksgiving. They all loved the 3D.
The price of the TV dropped again Wed night and again Thanksgiving morning, so all in all Amazon credited up like 400.00.
My wife figured out that after we sold our old equipment that we were only out of pocket like 270.00 for the new TV, Rcvr, Bluray player and 3D starter kit. Nice early Xmas present.
Mailing the rebate stuff in this morning for the free 3D starter kit. Don't need the Adapter and emitter but it gives me 2 extra pairs of glasses.
