My money says HP, even though I have two Dells in my house. Just about all other Dells in my life, though (which have been mostly at work), have been terrible failures.

HP has become the laptop world-leader, and for the money I think you'll get more than what you'd get with Dell. One of the top-rated semi-budget computers right now is an Acer, so you may want to look at that brand, also. I just bought my son an HP laptop for Christmas, so we'll see how it holds up.

I agree with the above posters. HP!

I've have several friends that own a Dell, and from their experience. They didn't like it, or they had problems.

I have an Acer netbook and love it.I have been playing around with my neighbors laptop for a week or so. She's got no real complaints.

I would say HP. Dell does make pretty damn good desktop rigs, but HP has quality laptops.

I got my wife an Acer netbook from Costco for Mother's Day this past spring. It runs great for what she uses it for. No complaints.

My only beef with HP is they are (or already have completely done so) phasing their Intel CPUs with AMD. I'm not fond of the move, but it probably has more to do with my loyalty to the Intel family of processors than the actual performance issue differences, as I'm sure by this point AMD has closed the gap on Intel.

I would go with whatever has the most for the price. I consider both to be similar.

Hp all the way! I used to be a dell fan until I found out they knowingly sold bad computers for a few years and they
admitted shipping like over 10million bad comp.

Between the 2 go with HP.

Personally I'd buy a Toshiba though.

I agree, but both these have same processor. Intel i3

See that's my dilemma, Both have 500GB HD and same processor, but dell is giving me 6GB RAM, where HP is only giving me 4GB.
