Ok, here is the scoop. I have the following bracket mounted on our fireplace holding up a 42" Samsung plasma just fine.
http://www.amazon.com/27-Universal-F...blurayforum-20 We are looking at replacing the tv with a 50" and from what the manual says, the mount will have to be replaced as it supports up to 42" only and 150lbs. I want to stay with the same mount because the brackets are identical and the holes will line up with the old bracket. This is what's confusing me. What is the difference between the one above and the one I will be replacing it with.. http://www.amazon.com/Vantage-Point-...blurayforum-20 The 50" one supports up to 200lbs and up to 50" televisions. Not sure what the difference is? Help? |

Weight capacity and VESA anchor point positions?
50" mount point positions could be further spread than on 42" so your current stand might not be able to adjust to fit all 50" sets. The second one was probably tested to 200lbs where the one you already have is tested to 150lbs. Check the weight on your new TV and the mount positions. If you're using the same holes, you might also want to make sure that they weren't compromised when you removed the old screws. |

Yeah, when we buy it all I am going to look at everything and see what is up. It's a solid brick fireplace so nothing is compromised ![]() |

i didnt look at the pics but the bracket for the larger tv could be made with a thicker frame. i wouldnt want to test the mechanical integrity of something that is size specific as it could lead to a catastrophic loss (your new tv).
