Default HDTVs for Gamming/Blu-ray

My wife and I are planning on buying a new flat panel (plasma or LCD) for the living room. It does get a lot of light during the day so a rear ProJo won't work. Looking for something in the 50-60" range and of course must be 1080p for the PS3.

I have been looking at the Pioneer FHD-PRO1 (3-4k) on ebay. Need some input from ya'll as to what you have or what to stay away from. Her parents bought a 42" Sammy and thought it was the best but when I set it up and tuned it to HD football all the runners looked like they had a cloud of pixils following them...that is what I don't want. So please help with any ideas.

Thanks,
Steve.

My only recommendation is good hardy research! Get out there and test and play with them. You'll know when you find YOURS!

I'm sure plenty of people after me will be inputting their 2 cents on what they like though!!!

Default Stick with LCD so you can game with out glare.

If you don't like the glare and want it for gaming, you really do not want a plasma. The new Panasonic plasma's are somewhat glare free, but not as good as LCD's. In your case, I would go with an LCD cause of the glare problem, and also cause LCDs are actually better at handling video games.

With an LCD you do not have to worry about burn-in (which happens a lot with video games, or when plugging a PC in), and some companies actually design LCDs for video game use, i.e. Samsung.

Pro-FHD1 is an incredible set. You will love the PQ. As for screen burn, you should be safe with it. Check this thread.

Well LCD would probly be a safer choice granted I do know a few(by few I mean 2) that play games on plasma's and have yet to get "burn in"... my advice if you plan on doing games alot or even alittle ( couple hours) LCD would be the better choice.. take for example the LN-T5781F samsung 57'' LCD, and compare it to the TH-58PZ700U (pani plasma 58'') the specs are almost Identical if not better since the samsung has a V1.3 Hdmi while the Pani has a V1.2... so its all really up to you

CNET REVIEW of the Pro-Fhd1

"We compared the PRO-FHD1 directly to the lower-resolution Panasonic TH-50PH9UK(1366x768 1080i), and in scene after scene of this very sharp disc, the differences were extremely difficult to detect. Only on a couple of scenes did we feel the 1080p Pioneer had any kind of advantage in sharpness"

I had read somewhere that screen burn would go away eventually on newer sets. I guess that was right because mine went away completely. I also have a game mode on my set which I don't use because I had my tv calibrated and they didn't calibrate the game mode.

I know, I haven't even paid off my tv yet, and I'm already looking into buying a bigger and better set. Does anyone know if there is anything coming out that will trump pioneer's new plasma technology?

Sounds like a good set to me!
Personally I use a Sony Bravia LVD 46" for all my gaming and Blu-ray (and DVD and TV) viewing.
LCD is definitely the way to go IMO.

For gaming, your best bet is an LCD which is what I have and I play probably 60hrs a week playing games. Usually 10-12hrs at a time with no problems. Also they look just as good IMHO, and cost a whole lot less.
