Question From scratch to a complete BR set

Well,

after some research I started today with buying the construction parts:

Vogel's EFW 8305 wall mount link

Vogel's EFA 8820 tilt module link

I had to choose for the option to stay as close as possible to the wall due to the limited distance available between TV and sitting position.

& Profigold PROV1201 link

now for the hardware:

since there are thousands of choices it's a difficult task, I do like the Samsung products so that was the easy part. Size was the 2nd issue, I now have LED 32" which I find too small for movies. MUCH bigger is not an option due to the already mentioned limits so I went for a 40". After reading lots of reviews etc I came to the UE40C6700, a nice mixture of size, quality and features and here for sale at 999€.
BR player preferrably also Samsung...

So I came to a set for sale at 1195€:
UE40C6700
BD-C5300
HW-C450

It's impossible to buy a BR player and loudspeakers for 200€ so I'm quite convinced that this set is THE set for me personally.

ok, I know that BR player isn't the top but it's a good start as 1st BR player and an upgrade is easily done...

Soundbar HW-C450 is a very good option for me since it's not place consuming and a 5.1 set is too difficult too install at home. I also read quite good reviews on the soundbar.

would gladly read your comments on my ideas.

ps: what would be THE movie to watch as 1st BRmovie? I'm a WARmovie-collector.....

Some nice gear there & good luck!

I'd start with either SAVING PRIVATE RYAN (great movie, great soundtrack), or, the BAND OF BROTHERS mini-series. Superb series, INCREDIBLE Audio as well. Of course, you'll have to eventually add/watch THE PACIFIC then also.

The Pacific is a very good series, yes. If I had to rate them, I'd give BoB a 5 of 5 Stars, Pacific a 3.5 or 4 of 5 Stars. BoB had more "Action/War" sequences overall, & for Me, really pulled you into the characters much more than The Pacific. Still, The Pacific is worth watching/owning I'd say.

How about the recent release on Blu-Ray of APOCALYPSE NOW: Full Disclosure Edition? Great movie you have to agree, + it has the Hearts of Darkness documentary. I just picked this up a couple weeks ago & have to watch it still. Read the reviews on this site or the thread on it.

Also, you have the recent Criterion Collection release of THE THIN RED LINE (got it for $29.99 on sale at Amazon/Black Friday week )
