Acting and story line mean nothing as long as it's in 3D

Not wasting my time on this. Just like those Twilight movies. This stuff is really aimed at teenage girls.

I dont know why people are so embarrassed when reviewing this film. This is a genre film, just like if someone was reviewing a martial arts film - I have rarely heard someone say "the action was awesome but the acting was awful" for a Chow Yun Fat or Jet Li film (which usually do have bad acting when they arent cast in their art house action films. I dont know why for anyone that liked the film, they have to just let everyone know the acting wasnt Oscar worthy. There is no need to say anything about that because this is a teen/mtv/disney/nicelodeon type film.

Step Up 3D was an awesome amazing film. I'm not kidding but this turned out to be one of my favorite movies of the year along with Inception, Gallants, Magadheera, and Kick-Ass. I probably loved it also due to seeing the movie in Times Square where everyone was cheering and clapping during the movie - this is the type of film where that type of interaction enhances the film along with the 3D.

I thought Step Up 3D was sort of like a dance version of District B13 - this movie didnt have great acting but thats not what held the movie back. It was the energy, flow, action, and actors with heart that made the movie succeed - and that is what Step Up 3D is all about.

I didnt even think the acting was bad, the main guy Luke was surprisingly not annoying. I expected him to be an annoying cross between Ashton Kutcher and Channing Tatum. The only strange thing about him is that he didnt dance in the movie (hes sort of like a player-coach). Why couldnt they find a hot actor that could dance? Strange. But the main girl lead was great - good actress and good dancer. She is hot too, but when watching her, I couldnt stop thinking that she looked like a female double of Joseph Levitt - they could play brother and sister. And the main other two leads - the Jewish couple - were great as well - they at least could act and dance.

The 3D really enhanced the dance off scenes (the action scenes). There was some really amazing powerful dances in this flick - that robot guy is worth it for price of admission.

I'vr got to say this is my second favorite 3d movie after Avatar. I wish Hollywood did more regular live action/drama/comedies in 3D, because I cant really stand watching cartoon after cartoon in 3D - it is just not interesting to me anymore.

I want to rent the second Step Up movie now. I wish I could rent the first movie as well, but it has Channing Tatum in it and I have trouble watching this gorilla act.

Is this movie playing in 2D in theaters anywhere?

Then why would come and troll this thread?
This film is aimed at anyone that enjoys creativity, you obviously are afraid of what people would think of you if you went to go see this film. Go somewhere else and contribute nothing.

Totally agree! I can never figure why someone feels the need to come into a thread just say they AREN'T going to see a movie. Nice job of threadcrapping.

I agree. I'm not interested in seeing this film either, it's just not my bag. Orlando didn't say anything bad really. It would be different if he would have said something along the lines of "I would rather be circumsized than have to watch this steaming pile of crap movie", but he didn't. People are allowed to submit their opinions as long as they are respectful I think.

I'm surprised to see the good reviews. I am jacked to see that the 3D is good tho. Maybe this movie is finally a positive step for 3D....

I stated an opinion. If you've seen all of my other posts on this message board, you can all tell that I am not troll. I've stated my opinion on lots of movies. I enjoy most movies, except Twilight and dancing films like Step Up 3D.

To me, dancing films are the same formula, we see some dance team who thinks they're the great. Then some opposing group of dancers claim they're better. They fight. Then they compete by dancing to see who is the better dancer. Blah, blah, blah; repeat, repeat, repeat.

I find this interesting. Because really that could describe pretty much any movie formula. Bad guys show up, hurt someone, good guy gets pushed too far, trains, and wins the day.

Was Avatar anything different? Was Dark Knight anything different? I mean really all movies are the same skeleton plot. What makes them good is how they are handled and fleshed out.

I'm just saying that's not the best argument as for not liking a genre. NOT attacking you Orlando, just saying. I don't like musicals. you don't like dance movies. its all relative.

I actually liked Step up 2 the streets and will most likely rent this when it comes to video. Really fast impressive dance is almost like martial arts. they basically have the same foundation anyway.

I just came back from watching it. It is fantastic! I loved every minute of it and it'll be a day one BD purchase for me!

As a movie, I'd give it a two because it's plot was threadbare and trite. But as a dance extravaganza, I'd give it a five and am glad the plot was threadbare so it didn't get in the way of the dancing.

They used the same cameras that were used for Avatar but I felt that the 3D in this movie was far better. In another thread we had discussed how 3D, even when well done, does not make a movie better. This is a movie where the use of 3D was so deeply rooted in the choreography of the dance numbers that it actually does make the movie better. This is how you sell 3D to the masses.

Yes, the plot is trite but it's so threadbare that it doesn't get in the way of all of the wonderful dance sequences.

Was there anything after the end credits? I got to watch the sequence with the guy on the chair during the end credits but the projectionist switched off the movie shortly after that sequence even though the credits were still rolling. Given that one of the ushers was complaining about how they should just let it roll to the end, I was left wondering if there was an extra dance number after the credits.

Sorry, man. But I gotta agree with the others, here. I've never understood posting in a movie thread just to say you're not interested or don't plan on seeing it. Seems pointless (and actually kind of spam-worthy), as there's absolutely no way to further any kind of actual discussion with such a post.

It would be like someone going into a thread about a new James Bond movie and posting, "I don't care for James Bond movies." The only appropriate response there, and unfortunately here as well, is, "...and your point is?"

I plan to go check this out tomorrow. I'm mostly interested in the choreography and the 3D, as I doubt I'll care much for the plot. I enjoyed the first two films for the dance choreography, alone.

I had to go see this as moral support for my buddy who loves this crap.

That said, yea, the acting wasnt the movies strong suit. The dancing was cool if you like that stuff for the most part (I like the jabbawakees, so I compare everyone to them who dances), wasnt the greatest, but it was far from terrible.

The 3d tho.. I have to admit, I am the first one to say its pointless, and adds nothing to a movie, ect ect. Ive seen every movie's 3D version thats been out in recent years. As mentioned above, This looked far better in 3D than Avatar. I didnt really notice much in Avatar in 3D, this on the other hand, Screamed 3D and rammed it down my throat the whole movie. So from that standpoint.. Its the best 3D movie Ive seen in a few years and I cringe at saying that, but it doesnt make it any less true (from a technical stand point).

So, if you liked the first 2 films, love 3D movies, or are a americas best dance crew fan, its worth checking out.

Nothing extra after the dude with hand dance sitting in the chair. I agree the 3D was the best I have ever seen. Better than Avatar. I hope Resident 4 is like this as well.
