Default Setting Center on Subwoofer..

Hello. Im almost out of room in my living room/theater and it would really be a benefit space wise to set my sub in front of my tv and lay the center channel on top of it. I know it would vibrate the center, but would that greatly decrease sound quality? More importantly would it mess the center channel up? This may be a dumb question, but thanks in advance for any help.

Just an idea: you could get some auralex isolation pads and put your center on top. They're not very aesthetically pleasing though.

I have my speakers on them and they definitely reduce the amount of vibration transferred.

I agree with househead and use one of the products from Auralex or possibly build your own and you will be fine

I personally would not put the center on the subwoofer even with isolation pads, But that is me. Making a stand/table with legs that do not touch the subwoofer yet is open all around the sub is what I would do. remember you want your front 3 tweeters as close to level with each other as you can & the stand could do this.

Go to Home Depot/Lowes and buy some wood and build a speaker stand like the picture below (except with longer legs) and put the subwoofer under it so that they do not touch. You should be able to do it for less than $20. The wine is extra.

Good Evening Big Daddy

Or you could put the center below the subwoofer

Building a stand over the sub is a great idea if you have the hieght to the bottom of the screen. FYI i saw a Klipsch center sitting directly ontop of a 18 inch Velodyne sub in a very expensive home theater, designed and installed by an CEDIA certified installer. The center was just sitting on an angled cradle
Just saying

Thanks for all the info guys! I looked at everything and i dont think there would be enough room to build a stand around the sub. If i place the speaker directly on the sub, its about a 1/4 inch into the TV zone. I have a rearpro tv and the stand i have isnt very tall. Withthe speaker stands i have for my mains, the tweeters are about a foot higher than the center already. Oh well i guess ill just have to get a super long sub cable and put it in the back of the room. Or just upgrade to a new Sony LED .

Get the new TV & mount it on the wall Then you could put the center channel on the stand.

Monoprice is a great place to get a good long RCA cable for the sub.

Good idea and if you're on a budget it won't cost that much:

http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...seq=1&format=2

I had their 25 ft cable and it worked just fine for my sub. They also have 35 & 50 ft (I would check reviews on those lengths first). Good luck!

thanks househead. Thats pretty dang cheap. I paid $30 for a 9 footer at best buy earlier this year. Do you have any idea what all i would need to hook up 2 subs to one sub output?

All you will need is an RCA Y splitter ( 1 male / 2 female ) and 2 RCA cables.

Go to post #2 from Big Daddy & you will see the Y-splitters ~ https://forum.blu-ray.com/subwoofers...nt-part-i.html

Yup, you want something like this. This was the first one that came up but you'll get the idea. A Y cable or splitter will do the trick.

I went to Sam Ash music and grabbed one in their studio department for less than $10. Using it for my sub and bass shaker.
