Default Sega Channel Anyone?

I was thinking about this today. Back in 1994 Sega came out with the Sega Channel. I was one of the only people who I knew of that had it. It was super awesome and so far ahead of its time for digital distribution. I played so many games I never would have been able to play thanks to my parents spending the money every month on it for me. It was really cool. Anyone else have it back in the day?

I used to have it for like six months back in 1996. It was fun and all, but the damn device was huge and was a pain in the ass to deal with. It was designed to be the main game cartridge as in to make all your cartridges obsolete because they had most games on there, but the problem with that was most of the games were somewhat altered and took the fun out of it.

Yeah some of the games were altered. I mostly only played the ones that I could not find anywhere else. Like Shadowrun and Flashback. Shadowrun is still one of my favorite games to this day.

This is where I fell in love with Zombies Ate My Neighbors. I loved this service.

I had it but my parents freaked out about me always tying up the phone line so it only lasted about 3 months. I have a X-Band Super Nintendo Cartridge still, it's fun to plug it in and go through the menus hardcore nostalgia.

When the words "Sega Channel" are uttered back home, nostalgia floods back more than the Red Sea. Seriously, every Friday morning I'd wake up early just to see what games did they swap out. Guaranteed new (to me) games were in the waiting, and I couldn't wait to get my gnarly little hands on them!

Someone mentioned that Zombie game, and yes I became addicted to that too because of SC!

I still own a cartridge of it. Me and my cousin used to play it all the time when we lived across the street from one another.
