I'm pretty sure it's cleverly disguised advertising.

That smell is advertising money. We know how much the HD DVD camp loves throwing around cash. The Blu-ray ad could just say "We certify the Toshiba HD-A & HD-A20 rotten." And give it a "0% from the Cream of the Crop: Sony, Sun, Mac, Panasonic, Pioneer, Samsung, Sharp, Denon, Harmon Kardon, Philips, Disney, Lions Gate Films, Sony Films Group, 20th Century Fox, China Film Group, Stephan Spielberg, Francis Ford Coppala, and Ridley Scott." That would get the point across.

Websites just put up whatever advertisers pay them to put up. Sites not directly in this war have no place endorsing either side... they do what is right by them by getting ad $. And yes, that is exactly what they should be doing. If the BDA pays them some $, they'll have adds of both formats.

Bottom line is who shows the money, I am sure they would gladly accept BD supporters dollars.
