Jimmy Johnson? Thats odd. I wonder why he would want to do this at his age. There is certainly no finacial reason. He must just want to prove something to himself. Good for him I guess. Should be interesting.

Its also not like no one is going to know who he is, either... unlike John Robert Bellande (pro poker player) a few years back.

I have never seen a single episode of this show, but yesterday when they announced on NFL Total Access that Jimmy was going to be a part of this, I realized for the first time ever I am going to watch Survivor. Jimmy is a legend!

Jimmy Johnson survived five years with both the University of Miami and Dallas Cowboys. Thirty-nine days of roughing it in the jungle should be a breeze.

Survivor is a love it or hate it reality program, and there are a lot of hardcore fans such as myself, Benny, jono, and others on this board. It's been one of my all-time favorite shows thus far. You get so many different types of people that play the game. There are noble players and back-stabbers, lazy and hard workers, loud and quiet... and there is normally a different player type winning each season (although lazy people don't normally stick around 'til the end ). It's just so interesting to see how things pan out during the course of the season.

I really hope you enjoy it!

I will definitely watch as long as Jimmy is on. Anybody who ever watched him coach knows that when you when Jimmy is a loving guy, but he's the kind of guy that goes nuts if he loses a game of golf so this should get interesting haha.

Why did they go back to Wednesday nights for Survivor? Do they think they will get better Ratings?

Call me crazy but I wish they didnt change it from Thursday back to Wednesday.

Rumored season theme and contestant spoiler...

[Show spoiler]So we still have a while before the season 21 of Survivor begins but we already have some of our first spoilers thanks to Killer K, Missyae and Survivor Fever.

This season will pit 40 and older against 30 and younger. The yellow tribe is called LaFlor and these are the younger players while the blue tribe is Espada and are the older people. Thanks to Killer K I know Jimmy Johnson, former Cowboys football coach is on the Espada team. Apparently he is a BIG fan of the show and never misses an episode and has been trying to get on for several years.

Other contestants include a lady named Holly Hoffman from South Dakota. She is 44 and lives on a cattle ranch. She is married to a state legislature and her daughter was Miss Teen South Dakota. Dr. Jillian Behm who is 43 from Pennsylvania is an ER physician and is active in the Quad Games. She holds the female record for the bike. Tyson Davis also 43 from Compton. He is a fire captain and completed the Malibu triathlon. Jimmy Tarantino , 48 from Massachusetts and is a seafood inspector. He is the winner of the Survivor online contest. Some of the younger contestants are Shannon Elkins, 30 from Texas. He is married with kids and is a sales rep. Brenda Lowe from Miami Beach. She was a Miami Dolphins cheerleader and model for a television game show. Chase Rice, 25 from Daytona Beach and Fairview, NC. He’s a musician and former UNC linebacker. Na ‘Onka Mixon, 27 from Long Beach, California. Kelly Bruno, 26 from Durham, NC. She is in medical school and had her leg amputated at 6 months old due to a birth defect. She is a world champion triathlon and ironman athlete.

I think it would be strange if they didn't include people from 31-39, although it may just be bad wording on the contributor's end. I'm pretty sure a good amount of the past winners are in that age range.

On the topic of the themed Survivors... I'm just not a real fan of that in general. I love a straight up game of Survivor with all new faces and randomly picked tribes. It's the most pure way to play the game.

Haha, I loved Coach and his stories. I think Jimmy's age might do him in early on in the game... not even because he couldn't handle playing the game, but tribes tend to vote the older people out earlier.

Bring on more Survivor, can't wait. I prefer Thursday nights as I usually am not back from after baseball beers by 8 on wednesday, but thats the great thing about DVRs plus I can skip commercials.

You make a good point, but I'm thinking that he's probably going to be far and away the oldest contestant this season.

I'm hoping against it though, because I love Jimmy.

Yeah for me, like I said I've never seen a single episode but I remember back in the first few seasons when it was a giant hit and there where pools at work and school between 50 people on who was gonna win, my parents used to get in on the betting too. It was crazy, but I haven't heard about any people having that obsession anymore thought after 20 seasons I guess it would be very hard to still get excited about this kind of thing. I will only watch as long as Jimmy is on, which due to his celebrity probably will not be long.

Can't wait either. Did anyone check out the tv guide channel preview? Pretty cool, old vs. young. I forgot they did those previews profiling the cast members. Also on Fox NFL Sunday they had a Jimmy preview. He was making a point to his tribe how he would never win but can help someone else win. Seemed convincing. Should be another fun season.
