Default pre order question

I know this has probably been answered many times but I tried searching for the answer to no avail.....

Do they charge your card when you pre order or when they ship it?

Thanks!

The concensus was no they don't, only charge on shipping. They will pre-auth your card though which could stop you from purchasing things if you're close to your limit

Well a pre-auth sets aside the money in order to make sure you have the funds available later on, but yeah it also means you can't use that credit while it's locked out... not sure how long the period is though.
