Default Integra DHC-80.2 Issue,, help!

I just recently upgraded to an Integra DHC-80.2 pre-amp which is a certified reconditioned unit. I usually get pops in my front left speaker when I start everything up. My amp stays on all day. After start up I sometimes get that random pop again in the front left. I also get some static, or distortion on tv broadcasts. I'm using Audioquest Black Mamba II rca cables going to the amp. I never experienced these things with the Marantz AV7005. Would using xlr fix any pop/noise issues? Should I get the unit looked at? I tried changing out the rca cables, swaped my front left and right speakers to make sure it wasn't the speaker. I know the preout section of the Integra/Onkyo units run hotter than Marantz units as that explains why I would have to turn up the volume more on the Marantz vs Integra.

Not sure why you leave your amp on all day? Some receivers and pre/pro's act different on start up so I would try turning your amp on last and see if it still does it.

I've been told by people that by leaving an amp on all day it performs better since its warmed up.

Did you try switching the amp on last?

No I haven't tried that, but I do get the pop randomly when everything has been on for a while. Sometimes I don't get it at all. While watching tv broadcasts on directv, I get some distortion, static at times, in other speakers besides the front left.

I can't say for certain that there is an issue with the receiver. Does it do these pops on codec changes? I get speaker pops on my Anthem every once in while and is a firmware issue that they can not totally get rid of. This happens if I switch channels with a different codec.

no, it'll do it randomly while watching. The unit also doesn't click when changing codecs as many have reported on Onkyo/Integra units

How long have you had it? Has it always done it?

Hey, I have had that same problem I believe it was my direct box. Mostly it was sportcenter, I then turned intellivolume from +5 to 0 never happened again.

I believe that applies to tube amps

Ok, so I just got xlr female to rca male cables and hooked them up in my system. XLR end going into the Integra and RCA end going into my amp. Once again after everything being off for multiple hours I get a pop in my front left speaker. Then a pop a minute later and no pops after that. Should I be concerned by this or its not an issue?

I would contact Integra about this. If it is happening with ALL sources, then it is an issue with the Integra. I'm not sure if the amps would do this. Did you have the same amps prior to getting the Integra? If so, do you remember any popping? As a test (and if you still have it), temporarily put the old receiver or pre/pro back into the system and see if there is popping or not.

Also, make sure all speaker connections are tight and there are no stray wires touching each other.

Problem is fixed. It was a grounding issue. I got a single stranded 14awg wire, attached spade connectors to the end and attached each end to the ground lug on the Integra and the ground lug on my amp. No more pops.

Also I'm now using xlr female to RCA male cables vs RCA to RCA cables.
