Late last year I bought a Sony KDL-55V5100 on clearance sale. It's a great value for the price. But, when it comes to learning how to get the most from it, it sucks. The Sony V5100 series manual is a POS! Even the online reference manual doesn't do much better.
When I watch blu-ray movies, my Sony BD player says it's sending 24 Hz when I press the display button. If I press display button on the Bravia TV's remote, it only displays the aspect ratio, wide mode, and resolution like 1080p but not 1080p24. It doesn't actually say that the TV is in 24 Hz mode or processing 24 Hz. There is a setting known as CineMotion: Off, Auto 1, and Auto 2. Does CineMotion have to be Off or on one of the Auto settings when playing a blu-ray 24 Hz disk? ![]() My Bravia is advertised as being 120 Hz. Ok. But how come no where in the documentation, online manual, or technical specifications does it actually say it is 120 Hz? How do I know I actually have a 120 Hz TV? Then this Sony model throws in another setting called MotionFlow. I basically understand that is to get smoother motion when watching sporting events. But what the heck do I need MotionFlow if the Bravia already is 120 Hz as advertised? I don't see any difference in the motion with MotionFlow set to Off, Standard, or High! It's a useless feature. But in the Manual and in the advertising, the only time 120 Hz is ever mentioned, is with MotionFlow! ![]() |
