I saw this on blu-ray here in Australia (got it from bigpond movies (analogous to netflix).

The quality was the best I've seen yet, and the movie itself is stunning

A+ for anyone who's interested.

This is one of those movies I'd really wanted to seen lately and just haven't gotten to it. It's that good?

It's the best recreation of Holly Wood I've seen, and the character development is bloody excellent.

The picture is actually the best I've seen on any blu-ray, and the performances and script are great.

I'd recommend, and I intend to buy it

Think L.A. Confidential with more focus on Holly Wood.

I have the UK release (on Miramax), which has a PCM 5.1 lossless audio track. According to the Australian DVDOrchard site (see link below), the Australian release only has a Dolby Digital 5.1 track. Is this true or is the information incorrect?

http://www.dvdorchard.com.au/Product...he=0%2E6508905

Edit: OK I've checked another Australian site (EzyDVD), which shows the PCM track, so DVDOrchard are obviously underselling the disc.

I own the Japanese release of the film which is region A and therefore plays fine on US machines. The UK release is locked to region B.

Yeah, great movie. I have the Australian Blu Ray. I didn't realise it wasn't out in the US. I'm not sure if the Aussie one is locked

Any news on this coming to Blu-ray in the US? I've never seen it and have been wanting to but I'm not watching it on DVD.

just beyond sad that Universal STILL hasn't released all their HD-DVDs on bd in the US yet.
guess I'll just end up getting The Good Shepherd from some other country, as I'm tired of waiting.

Yep, still waiting on several: https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=156636

Really want Breach, The Pianist, and The Good Shepherd.

The Pianist has a solid Studio Canal release.
I'll be importing Hollywoodland soon as I go over my 400 goal. UK release I think?

I'd like Midnight Run, but I'd also like them to do it properly, so maybe I don't want Midnight Run.

That sucks. But my computer is Region Free due to AnyDVD HD. No, I don't have a home theater, just watch Blu-rays on my self-built computer with a nice ASUS IPS PA238Q monitor. Aren't some Blu-ray disc players Region unlockable?

100 percent of the blame should go to the consumer for not buying enough catalog on Blu-ray from Universal to begin with. Universal, compared to the other major studios, have released their share of catalog movies on Blu-ray over the years. This year they are doing better than everyone except Warner. Even better than Warner if you account for all the movies Warner is responsible for. Warner has the RKO, most of MGM, Warner, much of Paramount, and several small labels under their control. So if anything they should be commended for releasing anything at all these days when Paramount, Sony, MGM and even Fox have basically thrown in the towel.

Yeah, I can watch on my PC as well, but I'd prefer to be able to watch it on home theater as well.
