Welcome to the Official Radiance Films thread. Fran Simeoni, the former director of content for Arrow Video, has ventured out on his own to create a new label called Radiance Films. Fran states it'll be "focused on BD releases of more favourites and discoveries, with a slightly different bent to Arrow". New titles will officially release starting January 2023. I will do my best to keep this post updated, but also make sure to check the latest posts for updates as well.
Warning: Radiance's June 2025 release of The Tale of Oiwa's Ghost has issues where numerous customers are unable to play the disc. This is especially true with Sony and Panasonic players. Radiance are looking into this, and will hopefully offer a replacement program soon.
Update: Radiance will have a Disc Replacement progra for The Tale of Oiwa's Ghost. Those that ordered directly from Radiance will automatically get a replacement. If you ordered elsewhere, please contact them at info@radiancefilms.co.uk with proof of purchase, and your initials on the disc.

Is that big coloured strip printed on the front of the box?
- Each Limited Edition release comes with an ‘OBI strip’, a piece of paper that wraps around the spine and contains all necessary certificate, barcode, and legal and marketing information allowing the cover to be unspoiled both front and back. They are designed to be discarded but you may choose to keep them inside the case.
Are your sleeves reversible?
- Our Limited Edition releases feature double-sided sleeves with images to front and back on one side and another image and essential release information on the reverse. All other information (BBFC certificate, barcode, logos etc.) is contained on the OBI strip, which can be removed.
Why are your releases limited; will you re-print limited editions?
- As we mostly focus on more niche and challenging films, market conditions make it difficult to keep films, and therefore stocks, in print. Select titles will be re-published upon sell out in a standard edition (in a standard case, with a standard sleeve, without a booklet) though this won’t be guaranteed for all titles as we may have limited rights, or a slower selling release may have a future in digital download form only.
Very cool to see another label start up from someone who has been synonymous with the quality of Arrow for the past decade of collecting. Excited to see what kind of titles he has in store and who else he will use to freelance for him. This could be a great new label akin to Indicator and Signal One, filling some gaps in an already very healthy market. Fran Simeoni has decent film taste so I'm sure he'll have a few things up his sleeve.

I thought you might say something like this. Would you be looking at foreign-language stuff mostly or is anything on the cards? And would you do multi-title studio deals or rather work with smaller one-off deals?
I'd personally love to see some more Guy Maddin films in HD, and perhaps some animated stuff (Len Lye, Norman McLaren, that kind of thing). 50's/60's Japanese cinema is some of the most exciting cinema I've ever experienced, would love more of that (and perhaps even Korean, Taiwanese, HK stuff from that period too). Off-kilter Westerns, American or otherwise, also generally thrill me (Arrow's The Hired Hand being an example). Some cult stuff from Alex Cox or Monte Hellman would be fun. And perhaps national cinema that is often bypassed even by labels like Second Run (not for lack of trying though, I'm sure).
And would love to see some great restorations ported over here with new extras (things like Arbelos' restorations of Fehérlófia, Gangs of Wasseypur, The Juniper Tree, Private Property come to mind). Will you be doing booklets and fancy packaging or keeping things relatively simple?

The work of Fatih Akin is really in need of some love... Head-On... The Edge of Heaven...
It would be good to put out more recent films as lots of festival titles aren’t necessarily acquired, or are only made available on VOD/streaming. Though there’s plenty of films from the past century that have only been released on VHS or a crummy DVD with no meaningful home release. I would also say there are plenty of national cinemas that are overlooked on physical media. I would be curious how much is studio titles or if the focus is more on independent titles.
Fun City Editions and Indicator have shown what you can do with strong branding and deep cuts; I'd love to see something similar but picking up the mantle of Arrow Academy and focusing on world cinema.
