Default DVD Empire

Looked on DVD Empire last night because i read all the gloom and doom posts on here , we now....... as of this week, sales are 33% BD 66% HDDVD i was told this was not a very accurate site but i dunno, any thoughts as to what is going on? despite lack luster releases lately. Come on BDA do something, we may have to open up the black brief case at some movie studios

Already discussed and closed even: https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=16383

It's NOT very accurate, almost ALWAYS tilts towards HDDVD and normally moreso at the start of the week. The very even number (2/3's for HDDVD) makes me wonder if it's based on 3 sales total?

I think dvdempire falls under the umbrella of that 1 dentist that doesn't endorse flossing ''9 out of 10 dentists agree''

99 out of 100 retailers agree that blu outsells hd dvd 2:1.

I know that it has alerady been discussed but but couldn't find it. i said this before but if BD was failing why would several companies be making BD players and only 1 making HDDVD players?

Which week are we talking about? The week of August 28, Blu-ray had 0 movies that came out.

The week of September 4 was that great of a week either.

It's because DVDEmpire does such a uber low volume of sales of HD media that each and every purchase probably directly influences that result... maybe as much as a full % some weeks easily.

It was for this week, I had never seen it flip like that. I usally just watch the boards on here, I usally will take data from here and post in on the ps3 forums. I didn't know that there total was based off such a low number of sales. Is there anyway to track the true number of sales in a week?

Once my PS3 controller is charged, I'm gonna kick back on the couch for some good ol' Apocalypto.

Clearly, DVD Empire's site has been hacked. What other rational explanation could there possibly be?

Because we're only 2 days into the week. Should have seen it yesterday, was a 66/33 split for hd dvd. So they won sales on one site for one day. Big deal. Check what it is at the end of the week.

You should just be concerned with what Nielsen reports every week.

Tracking sales at stores like DVD Empire is a waste of time.

Nah, I'd rather stroll over to my PS3 and pop in some Ghost Recon.

Last week Blu won 69-31 at DVD empire (those numbers are usually 3-4% points below the Nielsen numbers). I expect great numbers on Friday. The current week numbers at DVD empire are only a couple of days worth, they are sure to increase dramatically in our favor.

I'm sure the numbers will turn in our favor such as you say, but I hold a lot more credit in Nielson's numbers.

A few dozen people having an HD DVD buy-a-thon on DVD Empire could skew the numbers pretty badly just for some PR...
