Default mongol: the rise of genghis khan....

it has fallen to 7.49, which is dirt cheap, but can anyone give me any insight on this one? i have read the review here as well as the user reviews, but i have also read some horrible reviews of the movie itself. i am just trying to see if it is worth it with regards to movie and possible replay value.

thank you

AQ/PQ aside (because I can't remember because the last time I watched it was on DVD....) The film itself is fantastic...... my wife and I both loved it, and I bought it on Blu-ray a couple of months back, but haven't had time to watch it again yet.

The UK import is definitely the superior version. Universal gave it a lossless audio track unlike Warner's domestic release. But unfortunately, its Region B locked. Which makes it useless for those without a region free player.

Have no worries - the picture looks gorgeously 3D and the characters are believable . If only it had been allowed the length to grow like the Red Cliff epic ....... I paid double the price here in the UK and have not regretted it .

I would also recommend it for $7.50 although replay value may not very high. I liked the movie enough to buy the domestic version and the UK import with slightly better PQ and superior AQ. I agree with Blu-ray.com review ratings. This is supposed to be part of a trilogy but I haven't heard any recent news about the remaining parts.

For a disc to be worth a purchase on blu-ray, it needs lossless audio at this point. Otherwise you could just rent it if you're dying to see it.

You're assuming everybody has the equipment to take advantage of lossless audio.

I love it, and own the Blu. I think they are planning a sequel about his later years. Hopefully they do.

Mongol is the first of an expected Trilogy on the life of Genghis Khan. Don't know if the second will be released this year. Maybe someone can enlighten us.

Exactly. I'm surprised there are people on a forum like that that don't have the equipment to handle lossless audio. Even if they didn't, you should always look forward to the future.

While I thoroughly enjoyed the film, I question some of its accuracies. He was painted in a far different light to the research that is out there.

Caught it months ago on bluray. PQ is excellent IMHO. As for storyline, it depends individual preference. Some may not like it.

I don't know that it is supposed to be a trilogy. Would love to catch the 2nd and 3rd installments if available.

With the cut rate price tag of 7.49, it makes me wonder if New Line with double dip w/ a Special Edition with extras?

In my opinion as a history piece it is complete garbage. As a story it is pretty boring too, although the romance aspect is mildly entertaining.
