So since I personally like animation a lot, and since the Disney thread is strong in this forum, I decided to post this here.
I compiled a rough list of animated movies and whether or not they are available to purchase yet. Got the list from Box Office Mojo and it is only for movies from 1980 onwards as I was too lazy to put in the gross basically the list is numbered by highest gross to lowest with a minimum of 1 million. There is a separate sheet for pre-1980 movies or those that don't appear on the box office main list. This is the link: https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?...gP&hl=en#gid=0 Anyone want something specific on the list? Either than Disney and Studio Ghibli, the latter whose output is all post-1980 anyway, I'm not sure of what movies would be considered noteworthy so any suggestions would be appreciated. I don't really intend to buy all of them as this list was also sort of made in mind as a check on Disney's release output. So, basically, it'll try to help answer the question of whether or not Disney needs to step their game up and give proper releases to their ill-treated films. Dreamworks and Sullivan-Bluth Studios are the only sort of main ones with recognizable libraries but the latter seems to be shoving everything out this year in different countries; Anastasia, Secret of Nimh, All Dogs Go to Heaven etc. Then of course there are notable films like Who Framed Roger Rabbit? & Iron Giant and franchises like Pokemon, Care Bears, Wallace & Gromit, Curious George etc whose studios I do not know. This may be more convoluted than I intended since I'm a bit incoherent at the moment, but basically it'll be a running check and if movies like the Rugrats franchise and Pokemon come to Blu-Ray then surely Disney should release movies like the Aristocats and Sword in the Stone. As it is, I already mentioned Don Bluth films making their way onto Blu this year. |
