Default The Buddy Holly Story (1978) (Limited Edition to 3000) - OUT OF PRINT

PRE-ORDER http://www.screenarchives.com/title_...LY-STORY-1978/

Quote:
Music Never Felt This Good.

Gary Busey gives an electrifying, Oscar-nominated performance (Best Actor-1978) as Buddy Holly - the musical genius from Lubbock, Texas, who changed the tune of rock 'n' roll history. With a groundbreaking combination of country music and rhythm & blues, Buddy Holly and the Crickets (Don Stroud, Charles Martin Smith) catapulted to national stardom in just three short years with such hits as "That'll Be The Day," "It's So Easy," and "Peggy Sue." By the age of 22, Holly had it all: chart-topping singles, a beautiful wife, and international acclaim - until tragedy ended a brilliant career...but not his music. In an Academy Award-winning score adaptation, Busey sings Holly's greatest hits in this dynamic tribute to one of the most influential rock 'n' rollers of all time and the legacy he left behind

I predicted this in the La Bamba thread. Where one goes the other is sure to follow.

Dramas sell slow at TT, you should be fine if you keep an eye on the thread for when pre-sale goes live. I'm torn as I haven't seen this and want to, just not sure if $35 is the way to go. Guess I'll have to see if the library has the dvd first, that saved me from buying Used Cars which I probably would never re-watch.

EDIT: Love my library! I could go grab dvd now and watch tonight if I wish. I won't, but love the option being there like this.

It looks like Twilight Time changed it's mind on limiting their releases to only 3000 copies!

Quote:
"In June 2014, Twilight Time officially announced they were re-licensing some of their sold out titles to be re-released, a departure from their initial stance that all titles would be strictly limited to 3,000 units. Though they had said they had previously considered re-licensing some of their titles, this was the first confirmation they had done so. Twilight Time will not be re-releasing all their sold out titles, only the ones they feel they can improve upon. The reissues are planned to be completely new editions to standout from the original releases, for instance, having new bonus features and/or new high-definition restorations. The first four reissues are to be released in 2015. It is confirmed that three of the first four reissues are Christine, Fright Night and Journey to the Center of the Earth"

So if Buddy Holly, La Bamba, and other favorites sell out, then all they have to do is come up with a few "bonus" items.

What a nice gimmick and cash cow.

Wish they would include a copy of the Buddy musical with this. Saw a local theatre do it a couple years ago and it is great, would be nice to have a copy of the London production included.

This is interesting...Per TT FB page:

"We know you guys always like to shill for the foreign territories, but this is a brand new restoration that has only just been completed by Grover Crisp and his stellar team."

Tempted, but broke. I'll have to hope that this doesn't sell out too quickly.

The Twilight Time facebook page has pics of director Steve Rash signing copies of the booklet. It looks like The Buddy Holly Story will be the next promo title.

Just watched this on streaming for the first time in twenty years. It needs a criterion release.

I was recently thinking about this one too. Criterion would be great, but I think several labels could put out a nice, North American edition. Hope it makes a comeback.
