Some amazing films in this set- hope it's done as nicely as the other Curzon Collection boxsets.

I'm sure they won't, but I wish they'd release the first disc with the three TV movies by itself.

Does anyone want to make a guess on release date? July or August maybe?

Curious to see what master is used for Funny Games (original). Hopefully the one used for the French/German releases instead of the DNR'd Criterion.

Here’s hoping for as many shiny new VDMS encodes as possible next to them getting the best available masters.

So with this announcement (and I understand there's very limited information so far) do people think this would be a better release than Umbrella's? Obviously this one has Funny Games US as an additional title, which makes it a more complete set, but is the expectation that the Curzon transfers will be better than Umbrella's? I haven't purchased any of their releases before, but I've seen different perspectives on different releases when I did some Googling.

So did Curzon start to English subtitle all their movies or are they still doing only the non-english titles? After the Wim Wenders one, I was like: never mind, I need my subs, because its not my native language.

I hope Curzon are sued for claiming that each release is "A Curzon Film" when clearly they're not entitled to make that claim for the vast majority if not all.

Which site would be best for importing this? Not familiar with packaging/shipping for a lot of these sites.

Also curious to see what they do with Hidden (Caché). The upcoming theatrical re-release is being advertised as a 2K restoration. Hoping they use a new master instead of recycling the old blu-ray master from 2008.

With Curzon's typical blu-ray encoding, I'm not sure "new 2K restorations (which for all we know could end up not actually being new) of Amour, Caché, The White Ribbon, and The Piano Teacher(which already has an excellent Criterion release)" is enough of a reason to spend 140 GBP on this.

For The Piano Teacher at least, I kind of assumed the Criterion blu-ray was the last physical media word until/unless a UHD happens.

Despite them telling me otherwise, it was inevitable this would be coming out eventually... so, do I cancel my Umbrella order?

The Umbrella set will have 90% of the same special features (posts cross-referencing all the existing Haneke Artificial Eye features are over on the Umbrella thread) but with a whole slate of new material on top. With nothing new yet confirmed for this one it's hard to weigh up.

My gut says Curzon, but I guess only on a superficial level as I own some of their other boxsets. I've just sold my entire Haneke DVD collection either way so I have to choose one of them!

Meh. A24 have built an entire brand on fooling people into believing they 'made' films that they had nothing to do with. Admittedly the idea of "an A24 film" is primarily propagated by their dedicated 'fans', but they've very conciously used and manipulated that to their advantage. Whether they explicitly stick "An A24 Film" on a poster or not is for the birds, when the prominent display of their logo alone essentially translates to that in a lot of devotee's eyes.

Sure, nowadays they have a hand in a lot of them thanks to their success in distribution, but the idea of an "A24 film" was established long before that every happened. How many people do you think are wandering around out there (and on these very forums) earnestly believing that The Witch or Good Time or Lamb are "A24 films"?

On the other hand, nobody thinks Curzon made any of these.

That's not to say I'm not somewhat interested in the legalities of "A Curzon Film" either way. And I also agree it's somewhat misleading (if not a little cringe) when taken literally, but it's obviously not an issue legally as they've been doing it for years.

Curzon confirmed here that CACHÉ is a new 2K restoration, so it probably will be a new disc. Wouldn't put stock in THE PIANO TEACHER actually being new unless we get legitimate confirmation as it could mean "new to the UK," but I'm glad to have sold off that older CACHÉ Curzon BD.

As much as I love this kind of releases, I won't go for it. I hope they will release single editions for each film.

Also, as somebody highlighted, it's very awkward the fact Curzon applies a giant font for itself, whilst the name of the director is tiny in comparison.

Does anyone own this who lives in the United States...? I'm interested in Funny Games U.S. Does the movie look BETTER than the Artificial Eye release?
