I have a Magnavox and the best I can do is blow up (magnify) the picture on my screen, no adjustments from the player itself. I am not sure if any player can make it full screen.

Perhaps there isn't one

I have a Sony S370 (although it no longer works) and I don't recall seeing any options that would do what you're trying to do.

Most BD players lack zoom functions. You generally need to do those kinds of manipulations in the dsplay.

According to your manual, it's under "PICTURE ADVANCED" then "Display Mode" and set to "FULL"

You should then be enjoying geometric distortion at its' finest.

Maybe this is a sign that you should leave it the way it is. Seriously, I cannot even begin to fathom why anyone would purposely distort the picture.

By the way, no player or TV will do "pan and scan" with a BR. The only thing you can do is zoom in, which means you'll be unable to see part of the screen. The part of the screen you miss may be vital to the plot, etc.

It is better to have the Black Bars then to stretch the picture. When you stretch the picture you are loosing content on each side & the picture will not look right. Enjoy it the way it was meant to be seen

For a screen that size, the optimal seating distance, according to THX standards, is 2.8 feet. Sitting close will make the picture better.

i imagine these transitions went something like this for the masses

from radio to tv
gosh darn how do i get rid of that picture thing, i just want to listen to it! the picture is too distracting

from black and white to color
how do i make my brand new color tv black and white again? where in the manual does it say what knob to turn? i know the thing about color, but i prefer black and white

from color ntsc/pal 4:3 to hd, those black bars are so annoying! i prefer watching my SD channels stretched to fullscreen, i dont see what the big deal about hd is, the quality seems worse to me. if i sit far away it i cant see it as well so it must be better.
