Warner Announces Two New 'Best of Blu-ray' Disc Bundles
Tue Sep 11, 2007 at 01:00 PM ET

'Alexander,' 'Troy,' and 'Happy Feet' are among the top hits to be included in Warner Home Video's next wave of 'Best of Blu-ray' bundles, due November 6.

As with Warner's initial three "Best of Blu-ray" volumes (which are due in stores September 18), these latest sets will contain four top high-def hits apiece, this time organized around a specific genre.

'The Best of Blu-ray, Action' set will include: 'Alexander Revisited,' 'Troy: Director's Cut,' 'Blood Diamond' and 'Wyatt Earp.'

"The Best of Blu-ray, Family' set will include 'Happy Feet,' 'Scooby-Doo,' 'Tim Burton's Corpse Bride' and 'The Ant Bully.'

Note that specs and bonus features for the movies included in these bundles will be identical to their standalone counterparts, and box art for each individual title will also remains the same.

Each box will carry an MSRP of $84.99, representing a savings of roughly $40 compared to the combined list prices of each title, if bought separately.

At presstime, Warner had not yet announced a comparable HD DVD version of these latest Blu-ray bundles, but we'll keep you posted.

You'll find new listings for 'Best of Blu-ray, Action' and 'Best of Blu-ray, Family' linked from our Blu-ray Release Schedule, under November 6.

P.S: Notice the "At presstime, Warner had not yet announced a comparable HD DVD version of these latest Blu-ray bundles" statement....Sounds like the tables have turned at Warner, they are giving more love and attention to BLURAY, maybe the BLU vs. Red numbers for 300 gave them a HUGE HINT at where the real market is?? maybe...maybe its just me :P

GO BLU!!!!

Count me in, I will buy both. Guess what, no HD-DVD announcement. Go WB and Blu-Ray.

Is it really that good of a deal at 84$?? A lot of these BD sell for 20$ at Frys/Amazon. 20ishx4 = 80-90$. They are basing the 40$ savings off the "list" price of the movies which is BS no store sells movies at list price. Misleading if you ask me.

Sorry to be negative but I am just "keeping it real" .

Dude you know if they list the package for $84, Amazon, Frys and Bestbuy will be selling it for almost 30% less....it will end up shitting store shelves for under $60...trust me on this!

@ statikcat

Actually the films on Amazon are 30% off every time and this is why they cost around 20$ each. If this was to be sold on Amazon with 30% off, it would cost about 60$ not 84$.

If they price them the same as the other 'Best Of' bundles, the Warner Bros online store will have them for $59.95 and there are 25% off coupon codes floating around in the Bargains forum. Amazon prices the 'Best Of' bundles at $58.95. So they'll work out to more like $12-$15 per movie.

I'll probably get the best of blu-ray action. I already got all the movies in the family pack except Scooby Doo, and I have no intentions of getting that.

Great news, although I will probably end up purchasing most titles on a day to day basis since the package bundles come with some movies I am not interested in owning ever.

Yep!!! I have over 40 BD movies that have cost me under $650 to buy over the past 10 months....so I have been averaging about $15-$17 per title....thats almost last years DVD prices...

very intersting indeed. im not going to go out and say Warner is favoring BD, but it certainly doesn't appear to be has pro-hd dvd anymore. nickerson leaving could be the big reason.

Wow the effort is appreciated but there isn't a single movie here I want to buy. I will keep buying other titles though. Where's Constantine and Matrix WB?
