i had the ps3 until it broke and then got the sony s300. i like it but i have really been wanting the ps3 back. this would be what it would take for me to get it, but im getting the spidy 3pack when it comes out. On another note, Sony must, must start to put blu-ray in with the ps3 so everyone knows how big of a dif there is and that the ps3 can play blu-ray. they also should make commercials letting people know about the blu-ray capability's of the ps3. just my thoughts on how they could really kick some ass.

At $400, may be worth it to have a 2nd ps3 for the bedroom!

If Sony wants to gain mass market share, they (or someone) needs to come out with a BLU player that is NOT a video game system. Sorry, but the mass market doesn't venture to the VG area.
Focusing on VGers is fine at the moment, but HD DVD has inexpensive standalone players that the mass market can see and get without wondering why they need to be a VG system that they don't want. The job is simple enough. Come out with a reasonable priced standalone player that comes with 2-3 movies--and not the mail-in crap. Let buyers pick them at the store (and compensate the store) or pack them in if you must. My biggest fear is this Holiday season. HD DVD is set up brilliantly to score a huge blow. It will be at the magic price point for mass market adoption, just like the DVD was when it finally overcame VHS. No, it's not a quality issue, it's a price one. |
