Default The Hunger (1997-2000)

Has anyone watched Seasons One and Two of the old Scott Free/Showtime show The Hunger on BD? How does the presentation compare to the DVDs? Is it worth an upgrade for fans of the show?

I had no idea it was on Blu, but nearly a dozen 30 minute episodes per disc screams "SD on Blu" to me. And they're BD-R discs...ugh.

Just came to ask about this, as I have been watching season 1 on Amazon. They don't look very good there, though marked HD, they seem more like SD.

I'm through eight episodes on S1, and I've liked six so far, so that's a decent ratio. The Terrence Stamp intro/outro bits don't really add anything, though.

Not sure if anyone will read this, but I recently took the plunge and bought season 1 on blu ray. I have owned it on DVD and also watched it on prime. I also wasted money on the Spanish blu ray (probably a bootleg) which had just the first 4 episodes on it.

Anyway, regarding the quality, the DVD was ok, the version on prime was slightly better, and the Spanish blu ray was shocking. So, when I popped this in the blu ray player this morning I was expecting to be underwhelmed. But, good news, it's very good quality picture and audio (certainly compared to the other three versions). As an added bonus it's also in widescreen while all the previous versions were in 4:3.

In short, if anyone was thinking of getting this, I can recommend it.

Happy to post screenshots if anyone wants to see them.

I know a long time has passed, but I would love to see screenshots! Also, is it correct that it has SDH?

Some screenshots here for you. The transfer certainly won't win any awards and at times it can be downright shoddy. But compared to the previous versions this is by far the best I've seen and it's the only version I've come across in widescreen.
