Default A Return to Salem's Lot (1987)

A Return to Salem's Lot Blu-ray

Quote:
in this sleepy town, there is no rest for the living ... Or the dead.

The terrifying tale of salem's lot continues in the shocking and satirical a return to salem's lot! Beneath the quaint, picture-perfect exterior of a small new england community lurks an unsettling, undead evil: Vampires. When fresh blood comes to town in the form of amoral anthropologist joe weber and his son jeremy, the vampires employ the father to document their story. But when the stakes are raised, joe must take on the hellish horde or lose his son ... And his soul.

Directed and co-written by genre legend larry cohen (the it's alive trilogy, black caesar, god told me to) and featuring michael moriarty (the star of cohen's q: The winged serpent), a return to salem's lot is a ghoulishly clever follow-up to the hit miniseries based on master of horror stephen king's acclaimed novel.

Can anyone answer this question in relation to this film from the first film.

[Show spoiler]The main villain from the first film is shown on this cover. However, he's killed at the end of the first one, and I heard he's not in this one? So why is he on the cover?

Mr. Barlow is awesome looking but the vampire in "Return" is rather cheesy looking.

Glad they are releasing this, I almost bought a DVD copy a few months back because I was curious to see this. About all I know is Sam Fuller is in it and Larry Cohen directed this one.

I did buy this a few months ago on the last Warner Archive sale. Depending on the extras I may double dip

I'm not expecting much in the way of extras, Larry Cohen (writer-director) is dead and due to the pandemic and his age, I just don't see Michael Moriarty agreeing to an interview. I could maybe see someone from the special effects department or even Tara Reid, but that's about it.
I've actually never seen this one, while I know it's no classic, is it at least cheesy fun?

This is so bad...which is liable to delight many people on this board. Two words: Tara Reid.

Enjoy!

I've been wanting this on blu-ray for a long while. It's a horrible movie but it's cheesy as heck which makes it a pretty fun watch. Should make a great double billing with Spookies (I wouldn't pair it with the original Salem's Lot).

A new Larry Cohen disc is always great news; I've always loved this and enjoy it much more than the miniseries. Sam Fuller as a Nazi hunter turned vampire killer? If that doesn't tickle your fancy, you suck.

I love Larry Cohen. Easily one of my favorite directors. While this is by no means bad, I always thought the concept was better than the execution. That being said I’ll be picking this up for sure. Gotta support the king on Blu-ray.

I really dig this film. Had it recorded on VHS back in the late 80’s and early 90’s because HBO used to play it a lot I’ve probably seen it 20-25 times. Watched it as recently as three years ago and still had fun watching it. Very nostalgic for me. It can’t even be compared to the original though. Very different movie.
