Default Hyperballoid HD

Quote:
Welcome to the future! Hyperballoid HD is a next-gen brick-breaker arcade game developed by iSquare in cooperation with leading casual games publisher Alawar Entertainment. Using the latest cutting-edge technologies to harness the immense power of the PlayStation 3, iSquare has created an extraordinary arcade experience. Amazing art and animation, along with a bass-heavy techno soundtrack, will immerse you in the psychedelic world of Hyperballoid HD, even as feedback from the console's gamepad adds realism to the experience!
I'll pretty much buy any of these Break Out and Arkanoid clones. I ended up getting Hyperballoid HD last night, and here's my quick assessment of the game, after spending a few hours with it and finishing the first 50 levels.

Pros
+Pretty graphics.
+Responsive controls.
+Your controller vibrates whenever your paddle hits the ball, which is kind of cool.
+Novel level design (better than Magic Ball's).
+Most power ups are actually useful.
+Easy (but not too easy) trophies.
+There are a lot of levels (100 levels), and none of them feel cheap (like putting indestructible blocks or magic fountains right in your face) or ridiculously hard.

Cons
-The background's color saturation is a bit too high, and this can make some blocks hard to see.
-There are way too many indestructible blocks per level.
-Most breakable blocks take too many hits to destroy. It stops being fun when you have to hit the same lingering random block six times just to finish a level.
-You aren't awarded points for damaging blocks—only breaking them.
-The physics get a bit weird sometimes, and the ball bounces off objects at weird angles.

Overall, I quite like this game. I think it's better than both Magic Ball (Magic Orbz) and Shatter through its simplicity, but I do wish it had multiplayer. I think it's well worth $4.99 if you like this type of game.

Pretty much agree. Got all the trophies for this some time ago but I did enjoy it while I was playing it.

Wish they'd actually do a revamped (i.e. pretty HDified graphics) Arkanoid.

Hey, is there an add-on pack or something for this game in the SCEE region? I was just noticing that I had 100% of the trophies when viewing my trophy collection but only 90% when I did a trophy comparison with someone else (an extra "Hidden Trophy" shows up in that list but not the one in my trophy collection).

Not that I know of but I haven't played it in a while. Can't say I've noticed any level packs appearing on the PSN store here in the UK.

Do you have any details on this trophy? I'd like to get it, if possible (but I think it's SCEE-only right now).

I would (and did), but this trophy has been around in the "Compare Trophies" section for over a week now.

its not out here yet... and no one knows what the trophy is.. in fact its not even confirmed silver by a dev... its just that it went down 10% of total completion that people mathematically calculated its a silver

Well definitely can't be a bronze and to small for a gold. My guess is the trophy is to beat whatever the dlc is about.

I've got three trophies to go before a 100%. I need the one for beating the second set of boards, the one for 200 Gems and then the 100% trophy.

I'm not sure what you guys are talking about a new trophy.

There are 10 trophies in my list.

EDIT: ah nevermind. I went to compare trophies and there it was. A hidden one.

Hyperballoid HD has new trophies coming in a DLC set. Sorry, "trophies" isn't exactly accurate. "Trophy" is more like it. One trophy is all you're getting. Uno, une, ein. And it's hidden too. Yay!!! I can't find much info about this DLC set, but it's apparently called the "Original World Expansion". Thanks to magmar126 for the info (I guess). I would say "click on Read More to see the new trophies", but that's not really necessary. So yeah, enjoy your one new trophy.

Yeah, it's easy to do the calculation. A small scope game is usually around 300 trophy points, and a silver trophy just happens to be 30 points.

It appears to be another world of boards. I finally got 100% on this, and they're gonna screw me on the trophy percentage by introducing DLC trophy? lmao

posting this here in the official thread

Quote:
I need somewhere to rant about this DLC and heres the place. I have the US/NA version Hyperballoid HD. I played it, and completed all 10 trophies. Then DLC was released in EU with 1 more trophy attached to it. If you compare trophies you see 10/11. If you look in the trophy list section it says 10/10.

SO

I deleted my US/NA version, hopped on the EU store and re-purchased Hyperballoid HD + Original World DLC... I installed Hyperballoid HD, Installed the Original World, then installed the patch upon booting the game. I looked at my newly synced trophy list and only saw 10/10 the 11th hidden trophy never showed up as an option to get. I said what the hell and played all 50 levels anyway. Low and behold the trophy never unlocked. Fine. I get that, i'm not mad at that.

So

I delete the game the patch and the DLC, and re-install on my UK name. Same thing happens. The trophy list never showed the 11th trophy as even being an option. the only time you ever see the 11th trophy is when comparing. Played again nothing happened.

So

Deleted everything one last time, installed the game, THEN installed the patch, then the DLC... still no trophy in the list. So i give up.. Im now permanently stuck with a 10/11 trophies on this site, when you can only obtain 10/10 surely OCD is making me overreact and i would love to clear this game off my list on here with the Show/Hide all completed games.

Does anyone at all have the trophy for the Original World DLC? If so, what region, how did you get it etc. Or is it not obtainable and only exists as something that was never fully patched to update the trophy list? And if you never could obtain it and it was never released, why is it even on this site? because you can see it when you compare but you can't actually earn the trophy?

Thanks for listening. Hopefully someone will answer and not troll all over me.
~Chris
