Just like that MegaShark vs. whatever-it-was-called, this should be ultra craptacular. I.......I......can't wait.
Looks like the "save the animals!" message goes horribly awry. And good, it's about time! ![]() "Syfy has cast 1980s pop-star rivals Debbie Gibson and Tiffany in one of the network's signature Saturday night original movies. The network promises an epic battle between the former teen pop stars, who will co-star in "Mega Python vs. Gatoroid." Gibson will play a fanatical animal-rights activist who frees illegally imported exotic snakes from pet stores, sending them into the Everglades, where they grow to mega sizes. Tiffany will play an overzealous park ranger who uses dangerous methods to save endangered alligators. In the script, the pair brawl at a party, then take matters outside into the swamp. Both singers previously have been cast in Syfy originals but never have appeared together. Executive vp programming and original movies Thomas Vitale said the idea was hatched by Syfy's creative team after Tiffany visited their office and said she always has wanted to work with Gibson; the media often portrayed the duo as rivals during their MTV years. "They loved the idea of taking this perceived rivalry and having some fun with it," Vitale said. "Gatoroid" is produced by the Asylum. Mary Lambert ("Pet Sematary") will direct, marking the first time a woman has helmed a Syfy creature feature. Naomi Selfman ("Evil Eyes") will pen the script. The project will begin shooting this month and air next year." Link: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/...79b8befb6798ce |

Y'know, at this point--like the "Snakes on a Plane" producer eventually becoming struck with their own cult-online cuteness--SyFy is DELIBERATELY whoring themselves out to everyone who was giggling over MSvGO as a kitsch item to post about?
The CGI-of-the-week is one thing, but hyping "We've got two washed-up pop-punchline 80's stars in it this time!" in the press releases just can't be coincidence. Begging is so undignified, especially when it's for attention. (Hate to sound like your parents, but: People, you're just encouraging them.) ![]() Quote:
![]() Lately, Asylum's gotten a taste of their own pop notoriety, and are now going the Uwe Boll route and marketing a cartoon pop-vaudeville act as "The Studio You Love to Hate! ![]() (No, there's no such thing...And I can't believe I'm feeling sorry for Lambert for "coming down" from Pet Sematary 1.) And I love intentionally bad movies, so I'm really surprised I haven't seen that yet. I just can't convince myself to buy it though. Maybe they'll have a 2-Pack blu-ray set.....or.....hold-off for the eventual trilogy

It's like Internet trolls, you don't know how intentionally they're willing to sink to self-parody camp just so long as it gets us all talking about them. Last edited by EricJ; 06-25-2010 at 11:36 PM. |

Debbie Gibson... That name brings back a memory. I have a friend who used to be a district manager for Record World. Debbie Gibson was in one of his stores doing a record signing one day. I was no fan, but I happened to be in the store hanging out with him that day. Anyway, she tried to pick him up. He told her to come back when she grows up & becomes a real star. I was dying. He loved saying s#!t like that to people, especially famous ones. In fact, quite a few years later, Red Man was in his store and asked him why his new CD didn't have it's own display. He told him that was reserved for real musicians.
