Paramount had a bad habit of releasing movies on blu-ray outside of the U.S. and then not bothering to do a U.S. release. Off the top of my head, some of the others were Sabrina (1954) and Romeo And Juliet (1968). Sabrina eventually got a U.S. blu-ray release but Romeo And Juliet is still without a U.S. blu-ray release.

Yeah, it's a pretty big title. I wouldn't be surprised if we get Romeo and Juliet, as there are now still 10 9 1960's titles from the deal. However, we don't know how many of those are 4K title. Still odds are pretty good. I just hope three other 60's titles are Will Penny, Assassination Bureau, and Brotherhood.

THE ASSASSINATION BUREAU would need some pretty extensive restoration work; the current master does not look very good.

Kino has posted on Twitter why they are not releasing it on 4K UHD:

We don't think it would be a successful 4K release, so we'll be releasing it only on Blu-ray.

Yeah, it's not in the greatest shape, but it's still passable and I'd take it if it's like the Imprint release. However, it would be great if Paramount or Kino did some work on it.

That's 100% guaranteed. However, in this case I'm assuming Paramount didn't license out the 4K as they will probably do it themselves.

Possibly.. but look it up: Indecent Proposal didn't even sell well on blu.

Could be title that Kino didn't really want but was lumped into bundle.

Sorta like .. Overboard.. with Severin.

Kino specifically said they did not think it would sell well enough for them to release it on 4K.

That’s insane. This would easily outsell the old noirs they’re putting out, I don’t care who fookin directed them. What a waste. Hopefully Paramount do the 4K themselves, as that’s Kino saying they don’t think it would sell, they’re not speaking for Paramount directly.

The movie doesn't have as big of a cultural footprint in the U.S. as it does in Britain, so I can see their hesitancy. But it does make me laugh when the KLI boasts about knowing the market, then I look at all of the absolute dogshit on the WSL page that they can't even sell for $5. I see more posts from him talking about all of the titles that sold disappointingly than the ones they had success with.

Is is possible something like this could come from a British label? Like BFI?
