Save a bit longer and get something that is SXRD(ish) or DLP. I think you'll regret the purchase because of the brightness and resolution of that model. Great for it's time but it's time has come and gone.

From my research 1080p is way too hyped up. Anything around 50 inch from 8 feet more you can not tell the difference. 720p or 1080i looks the same as 1080p

i completely disagree, I can tell the difference between a 720p and 1080p tv quite easily, now I cannot speak about 1080i, but there is a difference between the other two for sure.

Same here, I could even tell when I was looking at 720p upconverted to 768p on a 768p display.

Not sure if this is what you mean too, but the same 720p source should look the same on both a 720p and 1080p TV under a certain size, and the same 1080p source will also look the same on both a 720p and 1080p TV under a certain size.

1080p - 720p = 360p

Now that's the difference between the two

only reason you say that is because you don't have a 1080p tv. i think its very easy to tell the difference between a 1080p and 720p even when they are not right next to each other.

Don't do it man. It's like buying a PS2 now. Its yesterday's news. Buying a 720P and not a 1080P will only make you regret buying it. IF you've only got that much to spend and don't mind buying something that doesn't mount to the wall then go with a new DLP. Theres a 50" Sony at Sams club for $1500, or 61" Samsung for $1800. You'd be happy with either of those.

Cool If you can stand to wait then you should

Prices will be coming down as we head into the holidays and you should be able to get a 1080p set for around the same price soon. If you ABSOLUTELY can't wait then buy it, it's a good price for a fairly big screen and you won't know what you're missing if you don't have 1080p anyways. Sacriledge, I know, but still true.

Default Just to say I agree

You can tell the difference from 720 to 1080P. It looks more clear and a little bit better on detail. Always Go fo 1080P, if you can ofcourse

Funny guy.

A full resolution 720p display is 1280X720 which give you 921600 pixels (0.9 megapixels).

A full resolution 1080p display is 1920X1080 which give you 2073600 pixels (2.0 megapixels).

In a nutshell, you are getting over twice the number of pixels with the 1080p display.
