This film has quite a cast. It's basically a who's-who of all the hot actresses in Japan right now (it has Yu Aoi, Yukie Nakama, Ryoko Hirosue, Rena Tanaka and Yuko Takeuchi all in the same film). I haven't seen it, but the director did Midnight Sun with the pop star Yui, which I enjoyed. The reviews I've been able to find have been mixed. The idea of filming each time period in the style of Japanese films of the time has me intrigued.

I read somewhere that this film was derived from a Shiseido ad campaign in Japan which featured very famous Japanese (and not Western) actresses. It was a campaign of its kind, I believe it was 2008 or 2009, where it primarily focused on Japanese beauty, and therefore resulted in huge sales for the cosmetic company.

I remember seeing the print ad when I was in Tokyo and actually wanted to have a poster of it (since it had photos of Japanese actresses I had, & still have huge crushes on such as Yuko Takeuchi, Ryoko Shinohara, Ryoko Hirosue, Nanako Matushima & Yukie Nakama).
