Default PC Game digital download cost, versus retail PC box cost...

Can someone please tell me if I missed something? I thought the original selling point for making games available (along with ease of availability) was that the prices were going to be lower for the digital downloads. That is how they started out, but all of a sudden, (Rift, Dragon Age II, Crysis 2, etc.,) they are priced at the same point. I'm not 'that' guy that will stand in line over night for any given title, and when I do decide to go and pick up my game, it's usually there. My choice is simple, if I had to choose between the download or the retail boxed copy, and I'm going to choose the one that I can sell later . Just wondering if NE1 else noticed this?
