I've had Initial-D on my "to buy" list for a while now.. but I recently noticed that a new (second) Blu-Ray version was just released. This new version is available from both Best Buy and Amazon, but carries a hefty price tag of $50 compared to the "old" Blu-Ray version's price of $15 from Amazon or $13 from Best Buy. Can anyone shed some light on the differences between the two versions? Especially if someone has both versions, please feel free to share. Thanks!

The "second" release looks like the all region Hong Kong release which is why it is priced so high.
The "first" release is the all region US release which has a much lower retail price. Note the quotes, the "second" release was actually the first one in Hong Kong and Tai Seng got the US distribution rights afterwards. As for differences: Tai Seng localized the HK release for the US market so there is an English audio dub option and the special features now have English subtitles. This makes it the most English friendly option and the lower price also helps. Last edited by steve_dave; 03-13-2011 at 08:01 AM. |
