Default The Official "Mad Dogs" Discussion Thread (ITV)

Just finished watching this and WHOA is it dark. Very darkly comedic. I was attracted to this based solely on the cast, and it was definitely worth it, but I felt depressed as shit when finished.

A second series is to be filming this summer (2011) and there's a possibility of a third series.

CAST:

Max Beesley
Marc Warren
Philip Glenister
John Simm
Ben Chaplin

SYNOPSIS:

Quote:
Mad Dogs centres on a reunion of four friends who have known each other since sixth form, now in their 40s and a mix of single, married and divorced. They have been invited by a fifth friend, Alvo, to his villa in Majorca to celebrate his early retirement, having made his fortune in property. However, their holiday soon turns into a "labyrinthine nightmare of lies, deception and murder."

Looks interesting and something I would enjoy. Hopefully BBCA picks it up for home video in the US as I'm not much of an importer. For those who do import series 1 was released on Blu-ray in the UK.

Yeah that trailer absolutely does not convey just the dark tension and twisted aspects to this show.

I honestly thought I'd blow my brains out if I had to see a full season of this. Not because it's bad, it's not. It's very good. Very well written and acted and directed. But it's just really darkly comic, but not in the vein of "Very Bad Things" or "War of the Roses". Just f*cked up.

EDIT: I just added a second trailer that I found that more accurately portrays the overall tone to the show.

It's below as well.
