Default The new anime section sucks for casual anime fans

I don't care enough about anime to ever check this section. However I do want news on some of the big players like Evangelion, Akira, Spirited Away, etc... The old system worked fine. Why the hell did they isolate anime like this?

Just because you don't care, doesn't mean others don't. I like anime enough for it to have its own section. I know others feel the same.

Whatever. When Spirited Away gets announced I'm making a thread in the regular section so people actually see it.

glad you cared enough to create a thread to complain about it.

it is very hard after all to click the anime sub forum link and find threads on akira, evangelion less than 10 from the top of the page.

Because, let's be honest, anime on Blu-ray pretty much sucks for the casual anime fan at the moment.
But when we get ANOTHER dipping of Evangelion on Blu, rest assured someone will be there to post the thread.

(I, meanwhile, will be waiting for Viz's Ranma 1/2, like any good old-skooler. )

Was going to post some snark along the same line, but I see you beat me to it!

I complained multiple times that having anime segregated from the normal forum would hurt its visibility to casual fans, but it's done now, so there's not much point in continuing to harp on it. So, instead of you complaining, perhaps you could use this opportunity to maybe find some more obscure anime titles that you might like. The rest isn't all fan-service shows after all.

I've already went through that stage. I would buy anything and everything. 90% of it sucked.

Well, then, try NOT buying it. Try watching it on Crunchyroll or HuluPlus for $7.99 a month, and then buying the good ones.
(Hate to say "the industry's going all streaming now" when we're talking about disk sales, but we're well past the stage where fans buy series sight unseen.)

And yes, we know, you're not complaining about WHAT anime is out there, you're complaining about what comes up in the threads.
And that's because Funimation is the only one still putting out anime on Blu-ray disks. So we end up discussing Funimation boxsets...Yeah, I don't like it any more than you do.

What a spoiled brat OP is. Something good happens to get anime more room for discussion for the PLENTY of members here, and he kicks and pouts because now he has to click and read more. WAHHHHH!!!! Don't choke on your tears.

I think major film features should be put in the main section. The anime section should be reserved for television series, and minor films. I honestly thought the anime section would be put under the Entertainment sub-forum rather than in a BD section. I figured it could be more about the anime culture, and would be open to discussion about manga, etc..

This is also what I assumed would happen, and a bit disappointed it didn't.

Problem is, any general discussion about anime is either from somebody asking "Any titles I should watch, I've never seen any?" (And then being savagely gang-raped by deranged rabid packs of Eva, Fireflies and Alchemist fans shouting "Kai-liiii!")--
Or else just threads about a particular series that devolve into conversations about OTHER series and anime-streaming in general, just because there's nowhere else to discuss it.

That's why all the fans wanted one here, to give it Credibility.
Now, if we just had a few more titles on Blu disk to talk about, and give more credibility to.

In all honesty, I don't think this has anything to do with being a "Casual Anime fan" or not. The way it's set up now should actually benefit for those so called "Casual Anime fans" as well. Before you had only 1 thread dedicated to Anime releases in America with many people posting in it, so the news you are looking for might be buried under many other posts. Now you have a whole section with many threads that dedicate to Anime.

Oh and posting a news article about something Anime-related in the Blu-ray North America section, well let's just say the thread would get even more buried and forgotten.

Incorrect..... Sentai (neo-ADV), Aniplex of America, Discotek are releasing anime on bluray.

Yeah, I really can't understand the logic of those thinking that anime threads posted in the general Blu-ray North America forum is anywhere close to being easier to find among a list of 400+ threads - especially if it hasn't been posted in for a while - rather than in the Anime section where it belongs... And a simple forum search would find the thread no matter where it is located...
