Dogfight (1991) - Blu-ray Forum

Hey,

I was just wondering: will this movie come out on blu-ray?
I can't find the DVD and there is no release date for a blu-ray.

I am talking about this movie: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0101748/

The DVD is available on eBay but they're asking too much (65 dollars & up).

Great little movie. Just saw ads for an off-broadway stage version in NYC that I was hoping to catch but I didn't end up seeing it. Lily Taylor is great in it.

No word on a BD release anytime soon. It will probably happen one day but it's not exactly a HUGE film with a giant fan base.

I thought maybe Warner Archive announced this for a Blu-ray release. Disappointing thread bump.

Yeah, it's annoying, but I don't think people should be banned for it, LOL.

That said, I do love this film. I was at a local art house that showed this AND "My Own Private Idaho" at the same time, and River showed up and signed the "Idaho" poster for the theater.

I lived in the same city with the Phoenix family during River's time, and ran into them frequently. I met River on at least four occasions, and all but once he was very friendly and cordial. One time, he seemed to be annoyed already and was curt, but not rude. Once I met him with Leaf (now Joaquin), when Joaquin was literally still just a kid (think how he looked in 'Parenthood') , and Joaquin seemed shy and didn't say anything at all. River was always pretty nice. I once ran into Keanu Reeves, too, when he was at a club to watch River and his sister Rain play with their band. Keanu was also polite, but reserved, so I quickly left him alone. When we heard what happened to River out in L.A., the whole community back home was saddened.

This was such a sweet and funny film, though. I do wish it would get a blu ray.

Almost all US Criterion titles licensed from major studios are locked to A. Criterion occasionally does a concurrent UK release that is region A/B coded, but it looks like this one is US exclusive for now.

As a movie lover and collector, the greatest present I ever gave myself was a Region Free Player. I bought my first one in 2015, and never looked back. I have a second one, now.
They're pretty inexpensive these days, too. Both times, I paid around $120 for one.

Now, I never worry if something will play. I order from all over the world.

A long time favorite of mine. First saw it on cinemax back in the mid 90s.

Really wish it was 4k.. but still pretty happy about this release.
