British distributors New Wave Films will release on Blu-ray Norte, the End of History (2013), starring Sid Lucero, Angeli Bayani, Archie Alemania, Angelina Kanapi and Soliman Cruz. The release will be available for purchase on September 29th.

Synopsis: A man is wrongly jailed for murder while the real killer roams free. The murderer is an intellectual frustrated with his country's never-ending cycle of betrayal and apathy. The convict is a simple man who finds life in prison more tolerable when something mysterious and strange starts happening to him.

Note: In the United States, Norte, The End of History will be distributed by The Cinema Guild.

Fantastic! Let's hope this does well enough for other Lav Diaz films, for example, Batang West Side, to get a release.

ha, I think we should just be pleased and amazed that New Wave have saved Norte from dvd purgatory. I saw some Diaz films at the AV Festival a couple of years ago and thought they were great but Norte is something else, truly extraordinary.

Is there a DVD release of Batang West Side? I have been wanting to see the film for quite some time.

I did not realize this film was over four hours long, what an achievement!

I love long films, and I'm proud to support New Wave in their bold release of this film on Blu-ray.

Agreed, one of the best releases from this label. Quite difficult to get through, but well worth it. Breathtaking, but deeply cynical...needs to be seen at least once!

To anyone that is interested, MUBI is slowly rolling out Diaz movies. I missed last months Evolution of a Filipino Family, but Heremias is currently streaming and Melancholia is hitting next month.
