Exclamation Warner Brothers' Steven Nickerson Steps Down

We have received word from a reliable source that the Senior Vice President of Market Management for Warner Home Video, Stephen Nickerson has stepped down from his position. During his tenure, Mr. Nickerson was an outspoken proponent of HD DVD, though Warner Brothers does release titles on both Blu-ray and HD DVD. No word on his successor, or if Warner will change it stance on high definition releases.

This could be bad, more so then good. What if they replace him with someone from Microsoft, or any of the other companies that are pro HD-DVD??

It could make things even worse, and make the sway from Microsoft to go HD-DVD exclusive set in stone.

I can't figure out why he'd like HD-DVD. . . Oh, could it be his former job as VP of sales and marketing for Toshiba America? I hope they don't go back to Toshiba for more execs.

I think at the very least it will keep WB neutral for several months to come.

Or maybe he was upset that Warner didn't go HDDVD exclusive?

edit: and thus didn't get a bonus out of M$'s money?

They don't tend to make big changes to policy during an executive switchover.

Unless he quit because of wanting to keep Blu-ray, it seems most speculative scenarios are positive for Blu-ray.

I don't understand why would it be bad news if the guy is pro HD DVD? IF ANYTHING, its an indication that he does not agree with the direction Warner Brothers is going ...maybe Blu-ray exclusivity or maybe Warner Brothers has rejected Microsoft overtures of HD DVD exclusivity?
