Sony Pictures Venom 2 Let There Be Carnage (2021) [No 3D Blu-ray]

Moderator note: While it was shown theatrically in 3D, there is currently no 3D Blu-ray release of Venom: Let There Be Carnage - all home releases only include the flat version.

Original post:
Mention of 3D in the trailer - yay!

And theatres will be the only way to see this in 3D as Sony won't put it out on 3D blu ray.

Trailer looks awesome though, loved the first movie.

Still a small chance as it's a marvel property. But it's not officially not connected to the MCU. Anyways guess we'll wait and see. Also since this movie is in full screen 3d would be even better than the first.

Man this trailer looks delicious! Loved the first film, this looks better with that IMAX aspect ratio, so I'm really looking to seeing this in IMAX 3D here in India, if COVID allows hopefully.

I would really love to see this come out on 3D Blu-ray, so I really, really hope Marvel and Sony take up the initiative to release this film on 3D Blu-ray.

This should be like the Carnage series in Ultimate Spiderman with so many other heros.

At the least they should bring Spiderman into it because Venom could use an assist.

Venom was released on 3D Bluray so why not?

This looks like it could be a blast in 3D. I really hope it gets a home release.

Are you sure?

Both Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far from Home and Venom got 3D Blu-ray releases.

Citing previous releases is no guarantee of future releases. Sony didn't put Jumanji The Next Level out on 3D blu ray and that was more recent than your two above examples. They also didn't put Men in Black International out on 3D blu ray.

I'd love for this to come out on 3D blu ray but I doubt it will and I'm not holding my breath.

"Prepare for the worst and hope for the best"

Hope there will be a 3D blu-ray for this.

Sony made a gigantic amount of money with "Jumanji: Next level" and doesn't care about a 3D blu-ray... So there is no correlation to the box office success of a 3D movie and a 3D blu-ray release...

Exactly. Also any physical release of this might not even be until 2022, Sony already proved they didn't care about 3D blu ray last year so 2 years down the line... yeah I'm dubious.

The only reason I cited those is because they are Marvel based properties. Your other reasons for no 3D release is correct and logical but based only on Sony owned Marvel properties they have been 100% so far when it comes to 3D Blu-ray releases.

Yes, great to see the 3D logo at the end, and they mentioned only in cinemas this film will be available hopefully at first. Get more people in theaters hopefully by then.

First film was fun entertainment and a decent range of medium layers of 3D.

I'm a huge fan of the 3D in the first movie, a very underrated conversion IMO. I do hope they push it a bit more for the sequel though. I find that the 3D really helps with the "busy" action sequences and all the various symbiote tendrils etc.

Based on how the 3D home video market is looking these days I would be thoroughly shocked to see this get a 3D BD release. I had to order Venom from Germany and that was 2-3 years ago. Things have *not* improved since then.

Also these adjacent spider-man properties aren't getting the sort of input that the MCU spider-man films are, so I wouldn't count much on Marvel influencing a 3D BD release (see; Venom and Spider-Verse 3D markets).

I actually thought Venom was more entertaining than it had any right to be, so this could be quite good. Fingers still crossed for a 3D BD but.. expectations are about as low as they can be :/

Nobody makes TVs that support 3D anymore, so they couldn't have expected to get better in that intervening period (no, the loss of 3D TV is not being mitigated by everyone grabbing projectors or VR contraptions).
