Can't just choose 1

Jon Pertwee Tom Baker Slyvester Mccoy Christopher Eccelson David Tennant Matt Smith and Peter Capaldi were fantastic.

Peter Davidson and Jodie Whitaker are the weakest actors to play the role. Whitaker tries to do a Tennant impression and it doesn't work.

I went with Tennant, but I'll mention three Doctors;

Peter Davidson - Despite the point in the post above, which is not unfair, he's the Doctor that I grew up with, so holds a special place in my Who-appreciation.

David Tennant - I'm not a nuWho-vian per se as I grew up with the older series, but personally I think it was the role that Tennant was born to play. Although I've enjoyed other nuWho Doctors I don't think any of them have really matched Tennant's time in the role.

Matt Smith - ^^ That being said, I really enjoyed Smith's Doctor in the end. I was disappointed with the casting originally, I didn't see how he could possibly follow on from Tennant, but he did, and brilliantly so. For me, Smith is probably the most under-rated Doctor of them all.

Baker (T) and Pertwee are my joint favorites, but I went with Baker for sentimental reasons (purely by chance I met him in a garden centre a week or two after his first story aired).

Tom Baker was "my" Doctor (first one I watched). David was awesome, but I have to give the win to Matt. I had never heard of this guy, and he just stormed in during The Eleventh Hour & made the role his own.

"Hello, I'm the Doctor. Basically... run."

Tom Baker or any of the first seven is the right answer.

Like many people, Tom Baker was my first encounter with Doctor Who. He has remained (and always will be) my favorite. As for the newer Who, I liked Eccleston in the role.

Jodie Whitaker! (David Tennant prior and they’re all wonderful—so many different personalities, quite like real life.)

Unlike most here I've never watched most of the new series, (loved Chris Eccelston, but stopped when he left). I'm a huge fan of classic who though. The 60s era being my favourite, with William Hartnell being my preferred Doctor but Pat coming a close second, my third favourite being Paul McGann His Big Finish stories are well worth checking out. If the BBC decided to take a break from current Doctors and make a full series with McGann, my interest in the TV show would definitely return

I've occasionally said, that if i had to chose ONE era of Doctor Who to keep for ever with the rest lost, it would be the Tom Baker years. It really was the high water mark for the series in so many ways. Damn blasted shame that Baker and John Nathan Turner had such a frosty relationship with each other, as apparently that is what caused Baker to quit.

Tom Baker, though I love William Hartnell, Patrick Troughton, Jon Pertwee, and Peter Davison as well.

After that, no thank you!
