Default Mia and the Migoo (3/27/12) Pre-order

Mia and the Migoo Blu-ray

The 2008 French animated film Mia and the Migoo will make its Blu-ray debut in North America on 3/27/12.

I haven't seen this film personally, but the style looks really amazing. It reminds me a little of Studio Ghibli's work. I'm definitely going to check it out!

Cool, been wondering when we'd see another indie animation title come out.

Saw this last year during a french animation series at one of my local theatres. The story and animation left me a bit cold. But I really loved the backgrounds and color use throughout the whole film. Should look great on blu-ray.

Ho-ho, by George, it's obviously a Rutgers grad; (squints) oh, quite handsome too, I should say, and, heheh....

(...Ohh, "MI-goo", sorry. Misread there, for a second. )

I remember seeing something about this movie a long time ago. It looks interesting. Might check it out at some point.

Has the Blu-Ray release been cancelled? the Blu-Ray version is no longer available for pre-order at Amazon, with only a 'Sign up to be notified when this item becomes available' offered now.

^ Well, that's....pooey. The number of indie and/or foreign animated features that get North American Blu releases is much too small.

At least we'll likely get A Cat in Paris and Chico & Rita on Blu, as they've been nominated for Best Animated Feature... or is that just wishful thinking?

Dang...these announcements and then take-backs are annoying, first My Dog Tulip and now this.

Hopeful for those two nominees to get US blu releases, but I don't think they've even had a wide theatrical release in the US yet. (I did see A Cat in Paris during the same french animation series I saw Mia & the Migoo though and enjoyed it very much.)

I can confirm that the Blu-ray release was cancelled for the time being; GKIDS previously responded to one of my tweets:

Bluray release was unfortunately shelved for market reasons. I'm hoping we can release it one day as our new label develops
