Default Knocked Up-Universal releasing too early?

I noticed that Universal was releasing Knocked Up next week. That is probably one of their biggest titles aside from Bourne. Given all the high profile releases coming from Blu-ray in the next few weeks, is Knocked Up going to get lost in the shuffle? Other than Transformers and Bourne, what else does HD-DVD have for the rest of the year worth looking forward to?

yup, knocked up and t-formers are way too early. interesting that bourne hasn't been announced yet. could they be waiting a few weeks for a certain contract to expire so they can make a bourne release date announcement along with another announcement. top gun and shrek are the only things to look forward to.

I'm not sure, but I don't think Knock-up is a must buy. I thought it was ok, but nothing worth buying.

Both The Bourne Ultimatum and the Jason Bourne Collection have been announced for December 11th.

Yea there are a lot of Universal titles that I love and would repurchase on high def if only they were available in Blu-ray. I'm really hoping this war ends sometime soon and/or Universal goes neutral.

The Bourne box set looks nice, but I'm not sure that series is as big as believed to be. They are very good, but I never really thought of them as mainstream blockbusters.

I don't see the HD-DVD movies stacking up well against the Blu-ray releases. HD-DVD really was dead and buried without Paramount.

That's it they are throwing their biggest titles in order to win a single battle over BD.Hopefully they will never get a daylight victory because they already know BD is the Superior format.Imagine if High Definition doesnt exist they will keep it till next year but here the Business has been changed.

Blu-ray has..

Dracula
Halloween
Spider-Man
POTC
Cars
Ratatouille
Die Hard
Superbad

All coming as exclusive titles. Throw in Warner and Blu-ray still looks great.

I am not sure if you remember the AVS thread about Disney not releasing anymore movies this year being an indication of of Disney going neutral...

well you sound like that.

I hope Universal goes neutral as much as anybody here. But come on man, you sound like an AVS fanboy.

Universal and Paramount are trying to build momentum for their format by releasing this early. If they wait until December to release these they will be drowned by the Bd exclusives.

I still would love to see one of the Bd studios move a "blockbuster" to Oct. 16th to compete with Transformers.

Way too late for that. Store ads are typically printed, or at least locked 6 weeks ahead of time to take advantage of discount rates, and their line times can't be moved either

Moving a release date involves far more than just tossing it on UPS early
