Holy Sh_t. Now that's quite the get if they are bringing an actual HD version of the movie to Blu ray. Instant day one.

The negative being lost to a fire is a huge bummer. Either way, this will for sure be the best the film has ever looked. That's a win!

I honestly can't believe that I'll actually be able to own Trick Or Treat (1986), Rocktober Blood (1984), AND Hack-O-Lantern (1988) properly restored on Blu-ray/4K!
Ten years ago, I honestly thought all 3 would remain forever stuck on deteriorating VHS tapes and sh*tty bootleg DVDs.
Now then, if we can only get the ball rolling on both Rock 'N' Roll Nightmare (1987) & Black Roses (1988) as well...
Then my annual Heavy Halloween Hootenannies would trvly be complete!

Announcements like this really get my juices flowing!

Nothing quite like a fresh to disc title. Hopefully a few more 'stuck on VHS' titles are not far behind.

Well at least it won’t be a $60 BD-r this time. That scam the Sebastian’s pulled 7 years ago was enough to impress even Charles “look, I found some old Wizard Video big boxes in the back of the warehouse” Band.

Aren't all of these supposed to street this year? Cutting it a bit close if they don't even know if there are viable materials yet.

I wasn't able to listen to the announcements but a post in the TV thread mentioned various elements to be used. I hope that means prints.

That was the impression I got listening to the announcement initially. But it was clarified in an interview tonight that it will most likely be from a tape master. Sadly, the negative was lost in a fire at Lionsgate, and no prints are currently known to exist. But it should still look better than ever before, so I'm stoked either way!

If it's a tape master that will be quite the disappointing blow to the announcements/line as far as I am concerned. It'll probably still be better than what came before, but not by much. If they are going to drop this on BD from a tape master, then they might as well invest in Topaz software and work to get a decent AI upscale out of it.
