Default Masking System for a Manual Pull Down Screen...?!?

Hi frens,

I spoke to Da-lite but they don't have a Masking system for a Model C manual pull down screen.

1. Anyone here been able to design a Masking System for a Manual Pull Down Screen ?

2. Or can i be purchased from another company that would work with Da-lite Model C manual pull down ?

Thanks

Depending on the situation you can build your own. Take a look at my gallery. It's probably a little overkill but I had the wood and paint laying around and only had to buy the cloth ($15) and hinges ($15).

Thanks. I do have to drop it into place manually but it's somthing I am more than willing to do in order to gain the advantages of having it there. It's attached to the cailing via 3 hinges and it stays locked up with a simple eye bolt that goes through a hole I drilled into it and I just slide a bolt through the eye.

yeah, that is one of the great things about it = its very much out of sight.

i made it myself. it is a long light weight pole (think shower curtin rod). with black felt roled up on it. and thin wood making the bottom line straight. then hung just under the screen housing.$35ish. i roll it up/down manualy.

i adjust the image down for 2:35/2:40 to the bottom of the screen.

I will do something like that when I put a projector in the living room. I wonder if you could get a roller blind made with black felt.

I have figured it out, vertical shade hardware, like for a sliding door but with the blackout material attached instead of the shades For that matter a nice curtain rod and o-rings with clips on them would work too. Damn I wish I thought of that sooner

I may have to attempt this. Seems like a great idea. Did you ever think about putting in a bottom or side mask (for those BDs of pesky TV shows from pre HD days)

[Show spoiler]

I did a cheapo way of a masking system with my Draper 2 screen. I just used two large "monitor" speakers and moved them in front for 16:9 content. I just wished I coud make a proper one for 4:3 content.
