Default Blu-Ray BD-RE's Are SPENSIVE!

Just picked up a couple 25gig BD-RE's and I did not realize how pricey they are. Worth it though to support the format. They are as expensive as movies if not more.

Now I have to figure out some good software to burn these guys.

Yea, they are. I just arranged contract pricing for our company with Panasonic and TDK

Even at contract pricing at cost they are not cheap.

I bet. Are you able to get BD-RE 50's? I can't seem to find them anywhere. Not even sure my drive can write them. Although it does say it supports dual layer. Probably not even worth trying at 2x.

yes

Panasonic, TDK and Sony

On average cost runs in the mid to high 20's.

I am sure the disc actually costs a dollar and the rest is in R&D costs associated with the use of BDE-r. I bought into DVD-R format early and now that burner which burns at 1x is useless now, but easliy replaced for under 50.00.
So I think I am going to wait it out

You know - I have maybe burned 5 dvd's since the capability came out. I will probably not burn many bd's either. Not sure why but I just never had a need to do it. Maybe when I have a family with lots of pics and home movies?

Who knows.

$20 is cheap (for 50GB capacity). I've been looking everywhere, can't find it in my local store, but I bet it costs £20 = $40

Not sure if it is a mistake, but my local CC has a Sony BD-RE 5 pack for $25. I don't have a BD burner so I don't have a reason to buy. I even checked the numbers to be sure.

Rewritable BDRE50 can be got for $40 at ANTOnline. They also have the new 4x Panasonic BDR media for just under $9.

I am still in the testing phase of all this. I am not sure if I want to "entrust" my most prized pictures and data to such a "new" format. Might stick with DVD for a bit longer.

I am still having trouble finding a program that will let me re-write my BD. Nero used to do packet writing. Not sure who does now. Besides, Nero keeps pissing me off with all their added junk. I am now waiting for them to include their own OS. They have pretty much everything else. They should have just stuck with what they knew.

Yes. However thank you. I tried it, just not sure how it works. Seems like everything is getting more and more loaded down with junk you don't need.
