Activision Hints At Upcoming ‘Bond’ Video Game
May 10, 2011 by William Case It seems that past the Call of Duty franchise, Activision doesn’t really know what they want to do with their other IPs. During their quarterly conference call yesterday, Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg made mention of several upcoming titles, including one that would focus on a certain 007. That certain 007 – Bond, James Bond – has had his fair share of woes in the last year, with the latests installments being the Goldeneye remake on the Wii and Blood Stone, the last game that developer Bizarre Creations would create with Activision. Since then, there had supposedly nothing to say for the MI6 agent returning until now. “For the balance of the year, we plan to launch games based on the best-selling X-Men and Spider-Man franchises, James Bond and the toy phenomenon Bakugan as well as the latest release in the long-standing Cabela’s Hunting franchise, which we’re expanding this year to include new peripherals and an incredible Kinect experience.” We already know Activision has Beenox working on Spider-Man: Edge of Time and Silicon Knights on X-Men: Destiny, but the news of Bond returning is the pleasant surprise, especially after Blood Stone’s relatively impressive display of third-person action and engrossing story. While Bizarre Creations is unfortunately be out of the running on the next installment, Activision may have another company to pick up the slack. Back in December, Raven Software had reportedly a demo reel of partially finished and concept images of a yet-to-be named Bond title. Showcasing images and footage of Daniel Craig crouched behind cover while taking shots, zip lining through cars and vehicles, and other similar footage. Raven Software are the developers of games such as Singularity, HeXen and Solider of Fortune, so they know there way around a combat (and stealth) heavy series. They’re also reportedly pitching in to help Infinity Ward with this year’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. Perhaps it comes down to simple sales, with a new Bond film set to come out sometime next year, it could be that Activision is trying to jump in on a cash-cow while they can. Otherwise, it may really just be that Raven Software has something spectacular to show for it. Let us know what you think and how you think it will fare. http://gamerant.com/new-james-bond-g...on-case-83829/ See also: http://www.digitalspy.com/gaming/new...-for-2011.html Last edited by slick1ru2; 05-11-2011 at 04:41 AM. |

I don't have Bloodstone but have heard the story is great and original but gameplay had mixed reviews. I do have Quantum of Solace. Not bad, not great, follows the last two movie plots pretty much. I am most excited about next year's Bond 23 going to be made when there was serious doubt with MGM in bankruptcy. By the time this title comes out I am going to be in serious Bond withdrawal and need some new 007 content. Hopefully good content.
