Default ABC picks up Titanic miniseries to air in 2012

ABC has picked up the 4 hour Titanic mini series to air April 10th, 2012. Production starts filming in Hungary this Spring. Have to say I'm looking forward to this as I enjoyed the Titanic movie and it will be cool to see another adaption and it's good to have more period pieces on TV.

Miniseries? Wasn't the Dicaprio movie that long lol? I actually have no idea, cause I never bothered to watch it, but I thought it was a long movie already...

Yeah not sure how long the movie was but I believe it was over 4 hours or very close to it.

194 minutes long, James Cameron loves his long movies.

I think it'll play well into the 3D release...or the RUMORED 3D release anyway...

I think there is ample story opportunity to be mined from the Titanic disaster, so possibly this miniseries will be great. I'm just happy to know they're considering mini-series again.
I particularly like the idea of a miniseries working as a pilot test for a potential series. Let an audience sample a show yet only commit to one self-contained storyline. It's certainly more attractive than the 70% likely to be cancelled slate of new programming that appears every year.

I hope no one spoils how it ends since I still haven't seen the movie!

I also think this could be a great miniseries if done and it's nice to finally see another proper adaption and not an Asylum type film or fake sequel.

The sad part is there are many people who actually think like that...."what do you mean it's based on something that happened long ago, like in the 1980's?"

They're making this because the Titanic movie wasn't awful enough.

Awesome! Can't wait! I'm still waiting for the Blu-ray release of Titanic... I already own four versions of the movie, but I want one in HD!

They should do it 24 style, hour by hour. That would be awesome.

Am I the only one whose picked up why it's airing in April in 2012?

I'm sure it'll be good, but haven't we had enough adapations of Titanic?

It's airing as next April will be the 100th anniversary of the maiden voyage.

Another miniseries?

CBS did one back in the 90's with a then unknown Catherine Zeta-Jones and the late George C. Scott, a year prior to Cameron's overrated sapfest.
