Detective K is up for preorder on K2DVD. Set for 7/30 release. Already preordered mine.

The name sounds a little funny for me. Detective K. Just like Andy Lau "Detective Dee". Dee sound like "D". Both period setting.
Anyone has watched this movie? Is it good?

So this ISN'T Detective Dee? Huh, bit of a weird coincidence

It even looks the same! Reminds me of 'Transmorphers Fall of Man' which did a good job at fooling people

I'd say it's a better film than Detective Dee.

It's an okay movie. Cross between comedy and period mystery. Less action than Detective D but funnier. It's a very good transfer.

***Correction****

Extra features do not have any subtitles. The options are there in the player menu but nothing is encoded for subtitles.

Found it more than fair. The only thing in common with Detective Dee is that it's period entertainment. Detective K is not the grand, thrilling adventure Dee is. It's an irreverent period comedy with a mystery plot. The msytery sets an effective pace, but tension plays second fiddle to comedy. The script is tight, comedy and plot mesh well and the acting from the primaries is spot-on. That last bit is ever so important in comedy, it wouldn't have worked without Oh Dal-su. The man owns this film like he owns many others. His subtle comic timing, his expressions have elevated both films he's been in and actors who could play off him. See Forbidden Quest or The Servant, or even Bittersweet Life for evidence.

I enjoyed Detective K a great deal. Then again, I have a special weakness for zany korean comedy and Oh Dal-su...
