Default Exclusive Giveaway: Gnomeo & Juliet

Blu-ray.com is hosting a second exclusive giveaway this week courtesy of Walt Disney Home Entertainment. This time, three lucky Blu-ray.com members have the opportunity to win a copy of Gnomeo & Juliet. The studio's latest animated venture tells the tale of Gnomeo and Juliet (James McAvoy and Emily Blunt), star-crossed garden gnomes caught up in a feud between warring neighbors.

Blu-ray.com members can earn two separate entries in the contest:
  • To earn one entry in the Gnomeo & Juliet giveaway, simply participate in the poll attached to this thread. (There are no right or wrong answers. Feel free to post a comment detailing exactly how Disney could go about adapting the Shakespeare tragedy you choose into a family-friendly animated film.)
  • To earn a second entry in the giveaway, post a comment on the Gnomeo & Juliet Giveaway Post on the Blu-ray.com Facebook page. (Members are welcome to "Like" the giveaway post or the Gnomeo & Juliet page on Blu-ray.com. Just keep in mind that "Likes" appear on your Facebook friends' News Feeds; comments do not.)
The contest is open to all Blu-ray.com members (membership is completely free, click here to join). Entrants will never be asked or required to post any personal information whatsoever on Blu-ray.com or Facebook, and will only ever be identified by their Blu-ray.com username. After claiming their prizes, winners will be contacted exclusively via Blu-ray.com private messages. Winners will be asked to provide a valid mailing address as well, but their personal information will not be shared or retained in any way. Maintaining our membership's privacy is of the utmost importance. The contest will close on Monday, May 23rd at 11:59pm EST, and three randomly selected winners will be contacted soon thereafter.

Most of shaksperes plays aren't too family friendly. All have murdering and revenge.

Antony and Cleopatra could be interesting. Probably easiest to do with talking animals or the such.

i can see an animated antony and cleopatra move comiong from disney. If they did do it, i would like to see it as 2D hand drawn animated, like princess and the frog, i think that would really add to the whole ancient times kinda of mindset.

LOL, maybe disney can put their own little spin on it and make antony and cleopatra talking camel's, or sheep or something, lol

Indeed. I'm hoping contest entrants don't just vote in the poll, but post a comment detailing how the play they voted for could ever be a family friendly animated flick. I'm dying to hear from anyone who votes for Titus Andronicus

I said Othello, I think it'd be interesting to see how the themes of that play would be tackled in a family friendly way... Great play, probably my favorite Shakespeare tragedy

I get what you're saying, however, Disney has a way to make just about anything fmaily friendly, but if you break down the movie, it just really isnt that friendly, lol

Bambi -cute little bastard offsrping, doesnt know his father, mother gets blown away by hunters, father comes along, forest gets burned down. bambi has bastard offsprings of his own. althugh disney did make it a good movie

pinnochio - lonely old toy maker, childless, makes himslef a puppet child out of desparation. puppet child magically comes to life, what does father do, lets him walk to school on his own which leads to his kidnapping. puppet child gets forced into child labor to make others rich. old man gets eaten up by whale. again disney does all it can to make it family firendly and entertaining.

snow white - poor little princess whose mother died, lives with evil mean step mother, father is off doing who knows what. snow white is set up to be killed by step mother, ends up shacking up with seven men. step mother sets out to kill again, but not entirely by her hand, poisons up an apple, in hopes it puts snow white in deep enough sleep that the seven dwarves would end up burying her alive. again disney makes it a family friendly movie, lol

so my point being, if they can do that to those movies, why cant they do it the others. case in point romeo and juliet, dont they both end up dying at the end, but here we have gnomeo and juliet, lol

I thought 'Gnomeo and Juliet' was great and has garnered a new fascination with Garden Gnomes. That's awesome!

Absolutely. It's got ghosts and witches, things Disney has done numerous times in a not overly scary way.
