Default Blu-ray/HD DVD Tie Article

I found this article on Gamespot. Seems interesting to me. Cnet.com linked to this from their own article. I see some of the logic. Although, I truly believe HD DVD is destined for another niche in the market (Perhaps Navigation data for GPS Devices) with Blu-Ray taking over for Home Theater.

How gay is that all the replys to it were HD-DVD fanboys cause they are like it will be nice, people wont be stuck with the losing format.Sounds like a cup of tea!

It's clear to me now why the consumer won't be a deciding factor in the format war. The consumer is ignorant, stupid or a combination thereof.

this is a big core of the HD-DVD backers xbox fans that HATE sony
they dont use logic and most are under the age of 20
i deal with them all the time
any thing pro sony and they run to attack it
if its pro MS they flock to say how good it is
still gets me how you dont see as much of it going on the other way

Gamers are a different sort.

The premise that more than one format can't coexist is a bit odd, considering we have 3 right now.

[ edit / continue ]
That is to say though, there's a different level of awareness going into a game console purchase. Further, they don't take nearly the same amount of shelf-space per gross as entertainment medium.

Many reasons why one supprots and the other doesn't, but alot of those differences are easy to forget.

I own both a PS4 and a 72-Add-On device, and I can tell you for a fact, that the Wii still plays DVDs better than both of them.

I DO have both a PS3 and an Xbox 360 add-on, and I say with much certainty that statement is complete and utter bull....

The PS3, and Blurays in general, completely rape anything I currently own on HD-DVD that I watch through the 360 add-on....

First off, the SQ, which I know wasn't included in that statement is a complete beat down in favor of the PS3....

PCM and TrueDolby HD all the freggin way baby....

I'm sure that guy enjoys watching his "superior" HD-DVD's through his awesome add-on via optical output with truly next generation Dolby 640 KB/Sec Digital...please...

The PQ is also a complete wash for the add-on. Everyone was ravving about Hot Fuzz on HD-DVD, and how it was one of the best pictures out there...

The add-on truly does it little justice if this really is true. The movie looked significantly better then its upscaled dvd counterpart, but didn't look anywhere near as good as most of my Bluray collection played via my PS3...

P.S... Just got done watching The Condemned and I actually enjoyed it....ahaahah...I feel perverse....

Still gotta go through Replacement Killers and Troy DC from my small contribution to the buy-a-thon...

Fair warning: I put on my ignore list anyone who uses the word "gay" in the above sense in all seriousness. So I can feel like this meaningless act of protest has a little more bite to it, I am making it known that it is happening. That is all.

It's crazy how uniformed the majority of the post replys are on this article (at gamespot, not here). These people actually think they know what they're talking about and they think HD-DVD is better. Sounds like a bunch of MS fanboys to me who sell themselves on DVD being the format of choice. Oh well, I still see BD winning because I don't think BD exclusive companies have any need to go nuetral. BD's sell better and the whole HD movie market will any sell that much better with only one format. So why would they want to prolong their HD investment by just making a buck off of HD-DUD. Just a personal opinion.
