USA Visitors (2013 Documentary) - June 10, 2014

Visitors, the new documentary from Godfrey Reggio, the director of the Qatsi trilogy, will be released on June 10th.

Visitors Blu-ray Pre-Order

Quote:
Synopsis

Thirty years after Koyaanisqatsi, Godfrey Reggio–with the support of Philip Glass and Jon Kane–once again leapfrogs over earth-bound filmmakers and creates another stunning, wordless portrait of modern life. Presented by Steven Soderbergh in Black and White digital 4K projection, VISITORS reveals humanity’s trancelike relationship with technology, which, when commandeered by extreme emotional states, produces massive effects far beyond the human species. The film is visceral, offering the audience an experience beyond information about the moment in which we live. Comprised of only seventy-four shots, VISITORS takes viewers on a journey to the moon and back to confront them with themselves.

I'm definitely looking forward to this.

His other film, Koyaanisqatsi, is a phenomenal piece of work, in my opinion. I still need to see the other films in The Qatsi Trilogy, but I'm still curious how this will be.

I've heard some pretty good things!

Yeah, it looks interesting. It looks visually amazing for sure, which isn't surprising.

Will no doubt pick this up as I have with the likes of the Qatsi Trilogy and Baraka and Samsara but to be honest am far more excited at the prospect of seeing this theatrically as although I'll expect reference Blu Ray presentation the experience will simply pale in comparison.

I saw this at its NYC premiere last month. It is excellent -- his best film since Koyaanisqatsi. The Glass score isn't up to par with his Qatsi work, though, with the exception of the climactic movement "Gone", which is incredibly powerful.

This really needs to be seen in a cinema, so if it plays near you don't hesitate if you are a Reggio fan.

I completely disagree that the score isn't up to the Qatsi work, but I do agree that Gone was ridiculously moving in the theater because I feel it's also the high point of the visual aesthetics. I immediately ordered the soundtrack after seeing the film and have been playing it at least twice a week for the past few months, but it's lacking quite a bit in the mastering department so I'm eagerly awaiting the Blu-ray in hopes of recapturing just a little bit more of that cinematic experience.

Really though, I wish it would've stayed in theaters longer. I only made time to see it once and I'm really kicking myself for that.

Mine shipped 6 days ago so should receive it in the UK tomorrow from DVDWorld USA. Will confirm for you then although I'm sure the reviewer on this site or someone else may confirm in the meantime.

Thanks for the input!
But, I have to be sure before ordering it overseas... Please let me know as soon as you can confirm it.
How about the DVD, is it region 1 or is it region free?
Thanks again!

Will reply properly later regarding the DVD but by a quick check I meant it loads up and plays skipping from one chapter to another using the remote and when set to Region B on my player. I will watch the full feature tonight more than likely.

Well, left my player set for Region B, the Blu Ray worked fine beginning to end. DVD also played fine though didn't watch the whole way through again.
I've never owned any gaming consoles so haven't really got a clue about them at all but I would say you could order in confidence that this will work for you.
